If they didn't let it run on Vista, they'd loose a chunk of their profits, so I'm pretty sure it'll work on both.

Even a year or so ago we were told it will run on at both XP & Vista.

~ Questions ~

If it can run on XP why are folks worried about it not running on Vista ?

Is Vista that screwed up it won't run anything made for XP ?

What happened to Windows backwards compatibility ?

Short answer is that depend on the coding it uses, not everything that runs on XP will run on Vista. Partly because of a newer kernel used.  Many thing will be operable but not everything.

In other words, yet ANOTHER reason to stay with XP.

So I will.

The NT kernel (what Vista uses) is actually more stable, as far as I know. It's a bit of a resource hog, but I haven't had any troubles with it. There might also be a few problems with slightly different APIs and so forth, but it's not a big job to make something run on both Vista and XP. There's also DX10, which allows allocation of memory other than what's on board the GPU to graphics, as well as some other functions. Vista's not actually all that bad, to be honest, mostly it's just people being scared of switching to a new OS. I seem to remember a similar thing happening when XP came out. There were still a hard-core who were steadfast in their belief that Windows 98 with SP2 was far superior.

-Understated elegance.

Until they worked out a lot of bugs 98 with SP2 was superior to XP, similarly XP will be superior to Vista for a while in functionality/etc.  However, I and many people I know have had problems taking software from XP to Vista because of the kernel changes and issues with DX10 compatibility.  Its going to be a whlie until either Microsoft alters Vista to play more nicely with XP software or for XP software to be fully replaced by Vista.  Just look at 98, it's been 10 years and some people still use it because of issues they have had with XP.

god it would be horrible if september the 7th came and they said:

"oh, sorry, you misheard us, we said we would announce the release date on the 7th, not that it was the 7th!"

On second thought, I shouldn't complain about the release date. If Spore came out in March as was previously planned, it would've made no difference to me as there is no way my aging PC could possibly play something the likes of Spore, and I'm too cash-strapped to get a new one. Hopefully, that will change by the time the game comes out.

The problem I have with Vista is that it takes more RAM and Processing power to play games, and in my book that isn't a step forward.

This is all speculation, but the Sims 2 body shop released in May 2004 when the Sims 2 itself released in September 2004. So possibly, the creature editor may be released as early as May. Here's hoping.

i dont know... even though they did say they were going to release the editors b4 release. i think it may be too large an aspect of the game to give away. maybe they will have a closed beta editor to populate, but im not so sure that they will release the editor in form of a free dl, but hey i have been wrong b4
Kings 2:23-24 --- The Holy Bible
23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel. As he was walking along the road, some youths came out of the town and jeered at him. "Go on up, you baldhead!" they said. "Go on up, you baldhead!" 24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse on them in the name of the LORD. Then two bears came out of the woods and mauled forty-two of the youth.

They probably won't release ALL the editors before release.  It will probably only be the Creature editor and POSSIBLY one other (I could see Building).  The main goals would be to:

1.  Get the public exciting by showing them a slice of the game.
2.  Let the public go ahead and start building content so there is a LARGE available pool to draw from upon release.
