When did you start playing Computer Games
« on: May 09, 2006, 07:44:00 am »
I am curious how long everyone has been playing computer games, so I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread about it.

I have been playing games since 1997 (Mario, Bomberman, some games for young children)

Console games, as long as I can remember (probably started around 1990, when I was 5/6).  Didn't have a computer 'till around '95.

I can't remember the exact year, but my 1st console was the NES that I got for Christmas (I played Apple 2 before that)

Boy, Mario was a great babysitter (not joking ether, thats what my sister used on me when she babysat)

The next few years are a blur. I do remember never getting a SNES. I don't think I even new what it was, but times were good since all the NES games were $5  :P

[Edit]
Oh, COMPUTER games. Uh, well I guess it would be my old Apple 2 if that counts. It had it all A copter game, sesame street, and a spelling game. Good times   8)

My earliest memories of videogames -- and I say 'memories' because I didn't get to play it since I was too young -- are of Rogue, the first electronic RPG. My father would play it while I sat on his lap and watched. I was two at the time, I think, but I vaguely remember how enthralled he was with it and how I liked watching the little symbols move across the screen. Then we'd go into Pizza Hut and they'd have the videogame tables with Asteroids and such, and I'd play that. We ended up purchasing an Atari 2600, an Intellivision, and Colecovision, and had a massive assortment of games for each. All the other consoles followed, like the NES, Master System, etc. So yeah, I've been involved in gaming since I was about two or three -- so roughly 24 years.

Earliest game for me would be a Montgomery Ward deluxe Pong game. It could run on either six D-cell batteries or a power brick from the wall. It connected to the back of the TV on the two screws the VHF ones, not the UHF, and a switch that you had to reach around the TV to switch from TV to Game. The version I had did not have the wired controllers (that was next-gen) the controls were mounted on either side of the box. You had Pong, Hockey, Handball, um... basically you chased the dot around.

After that would have been the Atari 2600.... COMBAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The NES whenever it came out. But we didn't have it for very long, and it wasn't until I was 12 or so that I started playing games again.

I think my first video game ever was Yoshi Story for the N64. It's the earliest game I can remember playing. I loved that game!

I think when I was about 6 or 7 I got a large grey slab which weighed about as much as a brick... i think it was called the Game...child. There was this one game about a plumber chappie called Super Marty-o land... or something like that. Then there was another one where you had to make lines of bricks called uh... Tet-ricks. Yeah... those.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

I know I got a gameboy first, and I think Mario came with it. I remember how that was the most awesome thing ever. Then I think my first computer game was "Math Blaster" (:P) Soon after that came "Oregon Trails".

I loved Oregon trails! But I always got lost before all my men died, though.
