Fast Moving Life
« on: May 05, 2006, 05:16:08 pm »
This is like those other evolution games, only faster, with new rules.

READ THE NEW RULES

First new rule - the first vote is the vote that wins.
Second new rule - the person to post after the vote is the one who posts the next part of the story and evolution choices.
Third new rule - A voter can't be the voter 2 times in a row, and a "choicer" can't be the "choicer" 2 times in a row.

Our creature starts off as a tiny little insignifigant blob in the primoidial soup. We have no defense or attack mechanisims. One day, there was a mutation...
A. It grew a filter thing to eat floating stuff and be lazy.
B. It grew a cell wall to defend against spikey things.
C. It grew a spike to poke at things to get nutrients out of the inside of them.
D. It grew a little propulsion system to run away from things.

Well, see, how the game works, someone votes, then that vote wins, so the next person posts the next story segment and choice...

So Vivec made the first vote, so C wins. If you want werechicken, you can do the next choice thingy.

C wins, now can suck the nutrients, but all the other creatures are going to fast. Infact, some of the creatures are killing the blob with poisen, is there a choice that can solve both of these problems?

A. Get a really fast fin, to chase food and run away from predetors.
B. Try to become amune to the poisen, and try to use it to help you.
C. Devolpe your own poison, to kill things that run away from you and things that attack you.
D. Make a sheild for the poisen, then try to eat the things that attack you.

Me then!

The blob like creature now has a little fin which allows it to escape from the fish and chase after the little blobs it eats. Unfortunately its now a little bigger and being attacked by jellyfish like organisms.

A- Become multicellular. Form a symbiosis with others of your species with certain individuals specialising to do certain functions
B- Evolve the ability to violently explode. Bad for individuals, good for the species
C- Get totally covered in spikes
D- Sink to the bottom, out of reach of the jellyfish

Our creature becomes violently explosive. Their glands just pop when they are endangered to their species sake. The Jellyfish soon are decimated because their pieces get eaten by our specimen. However, there is a new enemy about. The snouter, he sucks in blobs quick enough before they blow.

A: Grow Spikey
B: Develop a poison
C: Become fat, so we get stuck in the snout
D: Grow extra fins
OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.

(It's good that people caught on to how to play.)

Our creature is now a large rounded creature that gets stuck in the Snouters'... snouts, and then explodes, killing the Snouter. The extra fat however made our sucker less effective at sucking, and it loses alot of the food in the surrounding water.

A: Develop a long skinny head to make the sucker more effective.
B: Switch the sucker for 2 pokey spikes that pull food into a little "mouth".
C: Switch the sucker for a filter feeding system.
D: Add more suckers!

Our amoeba is back to its normal sucking capacity. However, it's being attacked by cells using fluid cannons from afar! How do we combat this?

A) Develop a fluid jet to rush over to the cells quickly and kill them.
B) Get a fluid cannon.
C) Symbiote with 'Big Bubba' cells that are big and have spikes.
D) Symbiote with 'Hedgehog' cells that can actually use their spikes as missiles.

You live in symbiosis with the big bubbas. They feed on bigger predators, and some algae and such, while you feed on the smaller bits and bites left over by the bubbas, and you eat off parasites from the bubbas back. BONUS EVOLUTiON NOW
A: Grow Bigger
B: Strengthen our explosive skill to increase the symbiosis of the big bubbas
C: Develop two Spirillas
D: Grow limbs
OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.

You grow limbs and somehow become multicellular. Our creature uses its limbs to grip tightly onto the bubbas and uses them to hitch a lift to food sources. However, small squid-like creatures are preying on our creature.

A- Fuse with the Bubbas. Grow nerves into their body and directly steer their actions
B- Abandon the Bubbas and crawl around on the lakebed
C- grow big spikes and retrain as the Bubba's defender in exchange for more food
D- Develop your hind legs into fins to provide a burst of speed.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

You deicide to deffend to Bubba's, but that isn't that easy. The squids are much more advanced than you, and many of you speacies die. This allso means that the Bubbas are dieing to, but they are evolving. even though you aren't evolving you need to chose what the Bubbas evolve into, and what your creature does:

A: the Bubbas merge with you, while evolving into defensive creatures.
B: They merge with you, becoming creatures that hide from their predators and chase their prey.
C: You leve the Bubbas to go to a more fitting habbitate.
D: The Bubbas evolve into adnaced canivours, still helping you.

We and the bubbas merge, but not before they evolve a thicker cell wall. Our function in the body is as a synaptic organ and a mouth, and the Bubbas are basically the body. Despite our entry into the animal kingdom, the single-cellular squids still prey on us, but not as much as before. Obviously we are going to need a third organ.

A) Absorb photosynthetic amoebas for extra energy from the sun.
B) Absorb parasitical amoebas for extra energy from vampirism.
C) Absorb a fluid-pumping amoeba for increased speed and potentially a ranged attack.
D) Keep the dicellular structure we have right now and grow bigger

what about the spies and the limbs?

BTW, Are creature is absorbing amebodes that absorb sunlight, soon, many things are affaird of us, we are at the top of the food chain...for where we are.  The small food isn't that appetizing, and just eating amebodes isn't filling, we need another food source. There is one problem, if we evolve we will become bigger and have more cells, making bigger creatures want to eat us.

How will we evolve?
A Eat big plants, but the plants are by poisons fish.
B Become a predator, you will need to fight allot more.
C Be like a plant, photosyns, you will however lose alot of options and might not have that much limbs.
D  Be like a vampire suck blood, every one will try to kill you though.
E Become a virus, will stay small though.

Over the years, one of the spikes on the cell wall mutates and becomes straw-like. With it, the creature can feed on another without having to spend precious energy on killing it first.

But some lucky organisms have developed a type of 'poison blood' that kills our creature when it tries to suck out its energy. Normally we wouldn't be bothered by this and we would say that that's how life works, but we want to be the dominant creature on the planet and to do that we'll have to be assertive.

A) Allow the creature to produce virii, these will weaken the stregth of the poison before we feed on it. The best option but virii are kind of dangerous.
B) Increase our resistance to the poison. This won't completely immunize us, it will sedate the creature for a short time after eating.
C) Get bigger so we could just swallow the enemies whole. This would require energy but it would somehow neutralize the poison while it's inside the amoeba's bodies.
D) Make the vampiric spike sharper so you could cut open the amoeba, let the poison dilute into the sea and drink what remains.

You evolve bigger and bigger over the years, and you can eat things whole now.But somehow your creature still isn't uprissing, infact, it is rare to see your kind. Allthough you might be able to kill animals, something else is killing your race, a deadly Plague.

What are you gonna do now!?

A Try to become intelligent and find the source of the plague.
B Stop sucking the blood of animals, it may be bad.
C Try to form packs with the surivers of your kind.

we now survive by eating other creatures whole and directly metabolizing some nutrients, while using others to boost our photosynthesis.  over time we have become multicellular, while keeping our basic body configuration.  food is plentiful, but how can we make use of it?

A. grow a bigger, more sophisticated stomach (with chemicals that may be useful later) to digest food more thoroughly
B. grow a bigger, nastier food-catching neck farther from the main body with sharp yet flexibly prehensile spikes
C. turn the food-catcher into a large filter to gather nutrients and one-celled animals
D. intensify our photosynthesisv(without necessarily "vegetating")

You evolve a head, but the creatures learn to go faster than you, you can't cetch them. And still, your race seems to be dissapearing, and allmost exstictent! You try to form packs, but it seems that there are hardly any of your kind for them to be formed. What is going on?! It seems that it isn't only your creature, but the other creatures are dieing to. It seems that the ocean water becomes more meerky and duller. What once had colors of life is now empty. Few creatures manage to survive, and you need to find more food without getting poisened.

A) Grow legs, get to land
B) Try to use the poisen to your addvantage.
C) Look for more food
D) You see a bright, bright light, get closer.

Over the generations the species (which is just a squirmy, squitty thing with a head) evolves a resistance to this 'poison' and in fact begins to thrive in it, using it as the basis for a whole new kind of metabolism. Some other animals have also adapted and are beginning to eat and be eaten by you. Random super arbitrary fun choice coming up!

A- Develop light sensitive spots (I cant believe we have a head but no eyes...useless)
B- Go back down the useless path and develop big dragnets so we can be sedate and lazy
C- Gain the ability to vomit poison into the water to kill nearby morsels and predators
D- Gain the ability to move by jet propulsion
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

we now have a primitive ability to see around us.  the trouble is we're still big and fat and can't move quickly.  really the only time we catch anything is when something blunders nearby and doesn't react fast enough when we make a grab.

A. slim down and grow simple flappers to propel ourselves around more quickly and hunt aggressively
B. get camoflage and lurk where other creatures tend to congregate, then grab them as above, only quicker and quieter
C. go near the surface where big defenseless floating jellyfish things are and grab them underwater
D. the poison seems to have some properties we haven't fully utilized - almost a sort of chemical intelligence.. (this won't make us MORE intelligent, but our intelligence will develop in a deeper, more subtle, biochemical way, rather than the reactive-environmental style that humans have developed)

Soon enough we continue to develop poison abilitys, such as blasting poison out of our mouth. We now go around spitting at moursels, poisoning them, and eating them alive. What now? Oh, also, were still a floating ball of fat.

A: Develop fins: high control, low speed
B: Develop poison jet: HIGH speed, NO control, poison stuff behind us
C: Develop camo: You know, eh, its camoflage
D:Develop water wings: high speed, low control

Fine, you develop poison jets, go you.

Obvious exits are:
a) Get some backbone you spineless cissy!
b)Do nothing
c) Get uplifted
d) South
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

As our creature rocks on, we get a exoskeleton (Cant get a spine yet you blowhole!). When jetting along we sometimes run into the mouths of camouflaged, poison resistant fish thingy, what should we do?

A.Get some spikes
B.Get a control mechanism
C.Start trying to eat them from the inside out
D.Leave the area

No, evolution doesn't work like that. If I was being eaten by a giant fish, I would problem die, I wouldn't suddenly grow spikes. It id not one person, you don't tell the story of one creature. But i will continue it anyway...

When your creature does that, it becomes a habit, and more of our creatures learn this. It gets passed down generations, and was a very smart methid of attack. Different types of the "inside-out" attack are formed, and slowly tribes bassed around attacks like this are formed. The creature is pretty violent, want to keep things like this?

A, yes, base our tribes around methids of attacks.
B, no, now that we have tribes start exploring alittle bit more.
C, yes, but come up with more ways to be violent.
D, no, Stop the vilence!

Yes. We got uplifted okay? The missing link, but with blobs. And we aren't that small, we are like fish now, actaully we are getting bigger. If no one likes what I wrote just say so (on here) Then we can delete all the post and pretend it never happened, okay?

Have you noticed that creatures that got uplifted because the author/s couldn't think of anything and lol, uplift, aren't interesting?

Well, I started this thing, so I guess I'll act as some crazy super time teleportation thingy...

Our creature continues on it's parasitic route, eating things from the inside out, and way in the future it becomes some sort of fish thing, that does that thing that I just said there.

But I'm too lazy to actually post a choice of what to do next, so I'll just leave it up to you silly little people.

As life continues, most life takes a huge boost, such as the fish that tries and eats us. With this extra size we are capable of much more, such as feeling 'hunger' 'fear' 'urge' and such. The current envirorment leaves us very wormlike, and our prey small fish suches and the gaper.

A: Get another mouth?
B: evolve some fins!
C: Upgrade our mating ritual
D:Begin communication between eatchother

When one of the blobbies is attacked it sprays hormones into the water which signal the others to get over here. There are some other chemical signals which can be used to attract a mate or scare away weaker blobs. Woopee. We now look like a small bling worm type thing which squirms through the water and bites things.

A: Become armor plated and crawl around on the bottom
B: Become more muscular, helps with swimming and stopping prey escaping
C: Fins like an eel to make us speedy like Gonzales (not actually as speedy as Gonzales, but closer to that speed than we are now)
D: Get uplifted LOL!!!11!!! (Dont vote for this unless you want a slap)
