New Life
« on: May 04, 2006, 01:41:18 pm »
In the Ocean of Huthus lays the beginning of a great race, that accomplished unification of the universe. This pond was full with bacteria, and critters that were threats to the amoeba that would be the ancestor of our friends. At the beginning of the age, this amoeba was a mere blob with no defences. It was simple, it was small. It also had a hard time against the spikeheads. Those would ram into the amoebas body and then drink its juice. Luckily some amoeba were able to save itself and they fed on algae. After a while a mutation was noticed in the amoeba.

A: The amoeba grew flagella
B: The amoeba developed a horn
C: The amoeba developed a cellwall
D: The amoeba grew a trumpet snout (sucks in close algaes, and other organisms)

OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.

I'm going to go with C, because everything that I have ever learned about biology says that I shouldn't pick that.

C Wins (I am trying to update quickly the first times)
Many amoeba became somehow harder to penetrate by the horns of the spikeheads. That development led to a stronger breed of amoeba as the weaklings were killed off and the strongest survived the best. Our amoebas grew over the course of millenia and finally reached a 2cm diameter. However a problem came up, through earthquakes and erosion the pond was ripped open to become a river. That didnt cause the amoeba to change location as they were rather heavy, but their algae would get washed away quickly. Therefore their environment was inhabited only by some spearheads, and bottomdwellers, crablike critters without the scissors. Luckily for the amoeba some of their breed evolved.
A: They grew flagella to swim after the algae
B: They grew little hairs to move about the bottom
C: They developed a snout, that could devour little bites(before they absorbed algae through their skin) to increase the variety of food
D: They develop a slender body that helps them to move with the current
OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.

I don't know why you started as an amoeba, but apparently you know how evolution works so I guess I'll vote on this one.

its a tie, so im gonna vote for D
The evolved amoeba changed its main structure of the body, instead of being circular it was rather long, and tender. This change allowed the amoeba to travel with the stream of the river, catching up with the algae on their way. Soon they would reach the oceans where the tender body formed a new function, the amoeba set up in big chains to protect each other from stronger liveforms. This protection worked well against the smaller predators, but now there was a threat in a different form. In this ocean there was a liveform similar to ours, only that they had sucking snouts. They quickly absorbed most of the algae arround here which was terrible for the amoeba as they could only devour algae. When hope was almost lost they were saved by another evolution.
A: Waste glands, to poison the water nearby
B: Develop spirilla
C: Become bigger, heavier and drop to the ocean floor
D: Develop a spitable spike (a spike that can be shot at enemies)
OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.

C Wins
The younglings of the amoeba started to absorb the algae more effectively therefore they became heavier and bigger. As their weight increased they sank to the bottom of the ocean to live in a world of darkness and sparse animals. Occasionally droppings of other fish went down here, and the amoeba (2cm diameter aproximately) started to feed on the excrements of the other fish arround the area. They were passive animals that waited for food nothing more, and their structure became more solid, yet it was able to absorb the excrements. Soon we were formless blobs at the bottom of the ocean. Sometimes other fish fed on us so we lost quite many numbers, however nature helped the blobs.

A: The blobs developed a bad taste
B: They developed sticky skin, to take the attacking fish and slowly absorb them
C: They grew branchlike hairs, to confuse the fish
D: They grew muscles so we could stiffen and shrink us when attacked
OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.

B Wins
Over the time our passive, excrement feeding, amoeba-blobs developed a new trait. We became sticky. Whenever those fish tried to attack us they would get caught on our skin and get slowly absorbed into our body. Over time we spit the ball of fish-goo out and contribute the food to all blobs arround. Soon our population increased greatly, and the fish came more often because there were some little fish down here that they fed on.

A: Grow thin invisible hairs to catch fish with
B: Develop a glowing sensor so fish get attracted to it
C: Develop a nectar gland
D:´Develop a jump propulsion so when there is fish above us we can catch them by quickly jumping up
OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.

We develop hormones that make our skin glow. Automatically we get a greater income of food as all the fish are attracted to the source. We now feed on bigger fishes. Our organism therefore grew over the years. The average blob size is about handsized. Some of the fish poke into us with long stingers. Those fish manage to suck us out and kill us. How should we evolute

A: Grow Tentacles that glow as well, and can grab people
B: Develop a poison gland so our blood is poisonous
C: Grow little feet so we can walk away
D: Develop biters at our whole top, so we can eat our way through

Our blood turned poisonous, and it was a hell of a poison too. The fish were killed quickly after sucking off our blood, therefore they fell on our bodies, so that meant more food. Yes our blob is becoming a passive/predator and hes uphigh in the food chain. However the water's are filled with terrors that are highly dangerous for the blobs. Like the crabobugs(underwater cockroaches), they feed on our meat, and somehow they manage not to drink  our blood.

A: Develop tongues to suck the crabobugs in
B: Develop a trumpet to pump our blood into the bugs
C: Start vomiting excrements of waste arround our area to keep off bottomwalkers like the crabos
D: Develop Legs to walk
OK, both of you die and let us know what happens.
