Your first gaming experience!
« on: May 17, 2005, 05:43:45 pm »
Hey all,

Was just wondering about people's very first system or very first game they played. How old were you when you played it? Do you still play it today?

I am 18, but I was 6 or 7 when my dad brought home a shiny new amstrad CPC computer, complete with games! I can't remember which specific one it was (either 464, 664, or 6128) nor the specific titles of the games, Just that they were incredibly fun.

The next system I had when I was still 7, but I can remember it alot clearer. It was a ZX spectrum.. and my all time favorite game was "chucky egg" I would play and play and play. Also text/graphic based adventures were a whole lot of fun like the original LOTR games for it.. got a real immature kick out of typing in swear words I had learnt.

It's really weird to think that the games used to run off those little audio tapes! I really can't for the life of me understand how that works. Also games would take FOREVER to load, and you were treated with a strange screen full of coloured rectangles moving up and down followed by a total carcaphony of electronic screeches. I'd just sit infront of it eating my fishsticks afterschool, so patiently. ;D

You think the load times are bad now? back then they were maybe half an hour.

It could be frankie. It could be very fresh and clean. It could be a balloon.

I think it might have been 'Empire' on the commodore 64.
But the first game I ever owned was Commander Keen 4, which I played on my Dads laptop from work.
And soon after that it was Alex Kidd on the Sega Master System 2.

The earliest I remember is our old Apple ][, and playing Oregon Trail on that thing all the time. I had so many silly graves...

Dynamite Dux on the master system.
It was my birthday (5th 6th?) and my parents got me a master system...now I had no idea what in the blue hell it was till my dad showed me how to use it, and it just so happened that the game he used as a demonstration was Dynamite Dux, and do consiquently it was the first game I played.

I still play it every so often on ROM (though my sega master system STILL works)

My first gaming experience would have been 'pong' on a Mongomery Wards home entertainment system. You know, I think I might still have it in the attic somewhere. It ran on 6 'D'-cell batteries and had to connect to the junction box with 'game-television' switch.

I think the original "Zork" is the first thing I can remember for the PC. A buddy had an Atari 2600, so some of those old-school games like Basketball, Adventure, River Raid... probably came a little bit before.

Super Mario Bros for the original Nintendo.  I was 6 at the time... I didn't understand how to make Mario jump, but I had a blast running into the first Goomba in World 1.

mmm, I remember playing the first warcraft, and scorched earth (man, that was a fun game) and a two player tank game, split screen. I played a mario game (mario world something) in hospital on a snes I think.  The first game I played on my own computer (p75, all the other games I played by friends) was simcity 2000 :)
