Reminds me of Nick Clegg, who was the lib dem deputy PM during the coalition government saying that at some sort of high level government meeting one of the Tory high-ups (either David Cameron George Osborne) got annoyed that people kep suggesting building more council housing because "it just creates more labour voters".

Why do you think the GOP was so terrified of Obamacare? It risked putting tens of millions of low-income (read: largely conservative) people in a position where voting against their interests actually had a tangible consequence, rather than some abstract budgetary one. Entitlements become the status quo very quickly if they aren't destroyed.

Then they should build and give away loads of huge houses that come with titles

A wise Surface to Air Missile once said about marrying 9 year olds in Saudi Arabia "Its pretty hard to tell if a 9 year old is going to be hot when she grows up, kids change a lot, usually, seems like a bad system. That cute little nine year old you married could end being a fat, zitty teenager."

I assume you mean the low-income voters that vote republican? As there is a huge number of them that vote Democrate. Of course a huge number of them do not vote at all. And that is how it seems Republicans like it considering how much they support voter suppression.

I'd be more worried for Japan and South Korea
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

It's all theatre, and largely for creating propaganda meant to be consumed by NK's own population.

Probably right.  And when I said "we," I kind of meant the our allies and the rest of the world, in general.  Still, those are some serious theater props.

A book I read recently (Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harare) talks about how Chekov said that if a gun appears on stage in the first act it will be fired by the third act, and then calls nuclear weapons "the gun that isn't meant to be fired".

Lets hope detterence and assured destruction are real things and not made up.

You know how Teresa May seems to be screwing thing up and the EU negotiations are going nowhere? It all a part of a convoluted plan to still stay in the EU. It is a stupid plan but clearly, that seems what she is going for. Why else do a half arsed attempt at it? I mean she was actually for saying in the EU before the Brexit vote.
