Minor Update: Ranks of the Wexxian Royal Navy Pilot:
Pilot is the most basic military rank in the Wexxian Navy, the Pilots crew the ships and fly the fighters.
Lieutenant:
The
Lieutenants are the light officers who do jobs from navigation to hangar management on larger ships. They are found everywhere on Wexxian ships and often serve as liaisons between the military commanders and non-military personnel.
Commander:
On a Wexxian Capital Ship (
Guardian,
Champion or
Axon Class) The
Commander serves as the second in command on the bridge. It is the Commander who manages the bridge and the ship if the Captain is away or unavailable.
Captain:
To a Wexxian… being a
Captain is a pretty neat thing to be! The Wexxian Species lives mainly on their capital ships travelling the galaxy and the Captains are the autonomous leaders of these nomad societies. The Captains are responsible for the ship and its crew as well as having to be a representative of the Wexxian Nation. Although Wexxians consider everyone equal, being a Captain gives authority and respect among many other species and they are sometimes called upon to act as adjudicators in local disputes.
Admiral:
Admirals are the people who direct the management of the Navy’s ships on the large scale. They are the ones who manage deployment across the galaxy as well as planning joint ventures with other nation’s Fleets (Mostly Torpals). The
Overseer
of
the
Military in the
Wexxian High Council is normally an Admiral, but most of the Admirals retain their responsibilities as Captains and the command of their ships after their promotion. As the only way of advancing in the Wexxian Navy is through skill; only the best of the best become Admirals!
Grand Admiral:
This is it… the highest rank in the Wexxian Military, the
Grand Admiral is the commander of all the Wexxian forces in the Galaxy. He has the authority to overrule the decisions of the
High Council on matters of military; declare war, settle negotiations and annex territory without having to care what anyone else thinks. He does not only serve the Military, he IS the military.
There is only one Grand Admiral at the time, the position is usually retained by the individual until death. It has been an unwritten tradition since
Axon, the first of the Grand Admirals, that the G.A. when beginning to feel the end of his life approaching, he will begin to participate in the most dangerous missions and finally be killed in action. This tradition has its roots in the Torpalian influence of the Wexxian Culture.
Since the
Wexxian Reclamation, the Flagship;
Independence has been the base of the G.A. but as the old
Independence has been retired from active service, the new
Independence X-2 has become the new Flagship of the G.A.
At the point of the
Wexxian Exodus, there has been eleven Grand Admirals in service of the Galaxy since the
Reclamation.

While the Wexxian Species is against violence and war, there is great respect among the people for the Navy and military, because of the military’s willingness to do a job that the Wexxians have trouble coping with. Due to unknown factors, the Wexxian
Enerva Clan is more resilient to the emotional stress that War has on Wexxians. As a result; almost to thirds of the officers in the
Royal Navy are of the
Enerva family. From the time of the
Reclamation, the Rank Insignia’s from Captain and above, have the
Enerva Family’s symbol!
