Should the Wexxians go out with a “Goodbye friends” RP, or should they just fade from focus of galactic politics.

Bye Robots… we got it covered while you guys are away! Bon Voyage. (RP)
No way… an inactive Wexxian is still better than no Wexxian at all. (No RP)

The Robotic Wexxians
« on: April 21, 2006, 10:18:03 am »
Here is my species: The Robotic Wexxians

C.A.S. Classification:

Gentle
Intelligent

Locamotion Classification

Intelligence Classification

Traits:
•   Industrious
•   Organized
•   Charismatic
•   Creative
•   Honorable
•   Trustworthy
•   Philosophical
•   Trusting
•   Meddling
•   Democratic
•   Hippies

Type:

Sentient Artificial Beings.

Habitat:

The Wexxians can survive almost anywhere but is mostly found in asteroid fields, planetary rings and the upper atmospheres of gas giants.

Lifestyle:

Social mineral gatherer.

Appearance:

Varying. Young Wexxians have a default robotic “body”. However older Wexxians may chose to design a new one to fit its occupation, surroundings or any other thing that may make a Wexxian want to be distinct.

Most Wexxians have a central computer core located in the centre of the body protected by a strong alloy to protect against damage and radiation ,
in the event of impending danger the Wexxian may chose to transmit its software out of the shell to a hopefully safely receiver.

A Wexxian Young.

Lifespan:

Around 40. Earth years: Every Wexxian´s software has an inbuilt virus that starts degrading and destroying specific systems at the age of 20. Please note that this is not a mistake or a flaw, but simply the Wexxians way of growing old and die. It is also something that makes the Wexxians enjoy the time they are alive in more. Their life span is not set; the virus starts degrading their programming but Wexxians fight it as long as they can, the virus however is also semi-intelligent and gets harder fighting of and eventually it wins, but depending on the intelligence of the individual Wexxian it may take more time.

When nearing our demise
We gaze upon our descendants
And our systems are filled with joy
They will go on and prosper

We give on our legacy
And our eternal love
We recall a life of joy
And we expire in peace.

Wexxian; Death Poem.

The Wexxians begin their life in the Young form, they spend about a month in an infantile state where they learn how to use their manovering. After the month the Young Wexxian follows their parent everywhere and learns by observing them, imitating them and improvising.

physically they do not change appearance, though they sometime paint their shells in bright colours (not always a pretty sight). at the age of five they usually are mature and they design a adult shell. they do not start aging before they are 20.

Reproduction:

A Wexxian merge programming with one or more other Wexxians (the Wexxians has no genders) and the best from all “parents” along with a small positive mutation is transferred into a prototype robotic body. It is also worth knowing that Wexxians sometimes transfer memories accidentally to their offspring. The offspring’s youth last about 7 years.

History:

The Wexxians originated as mining droids left over from a little known precursor civilization known only from ancient data as “The Great Pranksters”
How the droids developed sentience is unclear but at some point a mining droid decided that “smarter is better” after a few generations the droids became sentient and named themselves Wexxians (wexxian means servant in their old masters language).  The Wexxians soon colonized the Thishen star system from the precursor space station they evolved on; The Originator.

The golden age:

The Wexxians first contact was with the Oifan-Umtag whose hormone system they copied ad assimilated into their programming in order to become more like the other “biological” species of the galaxy.
Shortly after, the Wexxians joined the Oifan-Umtags young alliance; the Coadunation of Autonomous Beings C.A.B. as the third species to join.

CAB - http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=3723.0

The Wexxians remained steadfast members of the CAB. And they where one of the leading civilisations against the Halcyon threat:

The LAH: League Against Halcyon - http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=3813.0

The Halcyon war ended with the long remembered battle in the Wexxian home system:

The Battle of Thishen - http://www.gamingsteve.com/blab/index.php?topic=3888.0

After the war, the Wexxians assisted in rebuilding the galactic infrastructure and even terraformed the third planet in the Thishen system and named it Azuron. The planet became home for many species from all over the galaxy, most of them settled in the biggest city on the planet; Indigo city.

During the time from the Halcyon war till The Necrid Discord War, the Wexxians strengthened their political position in the galaxy and their programming ensured that they always where the first to risk their own lives in order to save the lives of anyone in danger or trouble, giving them a reputation for heroics among such races as the xx.
Also in the field of engineering the Wexxians shined with their fast and advanced star ships.

The Downfall:

The times changed however and after only a few decades after the beginning of the golden age a terrible treachery unfolded when the traitor Nemesis allied himself with the Necromonicon and captured the Originator station for its technology and power.
The Wexxians where devastated by this and decided to divert all their recourses to capture Nemesis and end the Necromonicon threat.

The events of the war are murky and it is uncertain what really happened but the war was long lasting and scarred much of the galaxy. The brave soldiers of the alliances lead by the fierce and noble Torpals, fought the Necromonicon menace until the final battle where the Wexxians detonated the Originator, annihilating half of the Necrid armada leaving the rest at the hands of the Allied forces.

After the battle; the galaxy was safe. The Wexxians however, had lost all… their navy had been devastated during the war, they had lost their home and Nemesis’s betrayal sent the Wexxians into a deep depression that influenced their ability to keep their inbuilt virus at bay.
In the following time 95% of the Wexxian population died of this effect, later named “The Wexxian Plague!”
Some Wexxians De-evolved into work droids in order to save themselves from death, while the rest of the Wexxian remnant scattered across the galaxy, fleeing from the bad memories of the war.

200 years went by. The Wexxians lived as a nomadic people, travelling in convoys from system to system, scraping together a living from what they could find.
Their base code degenerated and their “Protection of life and freedom” behaviour was forgotten and they lost their lovable “Hippie” personalities… they became the New-Wexxians!

The Age of Restoration:

The Restoration came with the discovery of another precursor station after following a map salvaged from the remains of the old Originator.
The station was named; the Licentia Station, by Lord “Axon” leader of the new unified Wexxian species.

Culture:

Due to the Wexxians form of reproduction, every Wexxian has a unique personality; this has given the Wexxians a broad culture that they are eager to build on by observing the good sides of every culture they come across.

Although atypical for a robotic species; the Wexxians do In fact have feelings, this was developed by studying the biology of the first other sentient species they met; the Oifan-Umtag, based on their nerve and hormone systems, the Wexxians where able to generate a wide range of feelings; Joy, hope, fear and all the rest, they even experience love (although not sexual attraction).  :P

As a constant characteristic before the downfall, all Wexxians had a deep respect and love for all life. This was because their where originally programmed to; quote: “Protect life at all cost”, by their creators. This has unfortunately given them a light minority complex since they think that natural evolved life is better than their kind.  :-\

After the Restoration the Wexxians are still not there old selves but one day they may again be the AI hippies of the universe.

Description:
The Wexxians had for a long time detected a growing unrest in the sectors under the influence of CAB and the OTHER alliance. War seams to be inevitable and therefore the Wexxians created the Enforcer in order to help the races of the CAB to survive the coming conflict.

The Enforcer was originally made for upholding the law of the CAB as a patrol craft, but wars forced the designers to upgrade weaponry and shields. The cockpit is detachable and can be modified to fit the desires of the species piloting the craft, it also acts as a means of escape from the power core if damage causes it to overload.

Few Enforcers exist to date outside private collections!

The Wexxian Guardian:

The Wexxian experimental factory in the Thishen star system.

Type:

Cruiser

Standard Length:

Ranging from 750 to 1.300 meters

Power source:

Cold fusion Reactor.

Engines:

Two Main: XL class Ionic Driver.
Two Secondary: L class Ionic Drivers
One Hyper-Warp drive.

Description:

The Guardian was the Wexxian navy's backbone, they where designed for a number of tasks and was often used with exploration and first-contact with alien species. The cruiser is designed like all Wexxian ships. Built for speed the Guardian is indeed one of the fastest "Old fashion hyper drive" ships in the known galaxy. The Guardian is also one of the biggest atmosphere entering ships in the Galaxy, this make it useful in various situations such as planetary evacuations. The problem with the Guardian is the same as all Wexxian ships, the Wexxians have problems with equipping their battleships with lethal weaponry, their war tactics rely on using their Ionic disrupter's to stun enemy ships and then try to subdue them without harming anyone, this tactic is very inefficient but works from time to time and if not, it usually stalls the enemy until the CAB send some Torpals to make short work of the stunned ships.

Status:

There was once over 5000 Guardian cruisers in the Wexxian navy, most of these where not under direct military command but exploring the galaxy, escorting merchant ships and making first-contact.
Nowadays there are but a handful left and the Wexxians are considering new designs for their new navy.

The Wexxian/CAB Champion:

Manufactured:

The new Wexxian experimental factory in the Thishen star system.

Type:

Battle Cruiser

Standard Length:

8.000 meters

Range:

Near infinite range

Crew:

One Captain and Navigation, Science, Communications, and Tactical officers along with Doctors, nurses and engineers. Altogether Crew: 2520

Capacity:

20,000 troops, 2000 Fighters

Weapons:

100 Ionic Disruptor Batteries, 25 Heavy Ionic Disruptor Batteries, 25 Positronic Torpedo Tubes, 5 Tractor Beam Emplacements.

Tachyon Particle Shield.
Nano-enhanced self repairing hull.

Power source:

One Antimatter Reactor.

Engines:

One Main: XXL class Ionic Driver.
Two Secondary: XL class Ionic Drivers
One Hyper-Warp drive.

Description:

After the Battle of Thishen the Wexxians realized that having too little to defend yourself with was a bad idea. The Champion was designed for the CAB as a future assistance to the alliance when the time again came where the forces of the galaxy would try to destroy the CAB.  The Champion was made to accommodate all the races in the CAB alliance and was a testament to the CAB’s united navy.

Status:

Hundreds of champions served in the Necrid War, none survived the final battle! But Axon is trying to gather recourses to get the Champion reinstated in the Wexxian Navy.

The Originator Station Destroyed!

Type:

Precursor Mining Station.

The station was the target of the Halcyon attack on the Thishen system, but survived!

The station was also captured by the Necromonicon with the help of the Wexxian traitor Nemesis and used as a weapon against innocent beings. Was destroyed by the Wexxians, in the final battle against the Necrid.

Status:

Only 10% of the habitable parts of the station was ever occupied! The Wexxians knew approximately what 5% of the stations systems did!
The Station central computer had only once been "successfully" interfaced; therefore most of its content is unknown!

Planet Azuron

This drawing is after the ecosystem was complete.

You may notice Indigo City on the western shore of the largest continent, and yes it is that big. The city is populated with species from all over the galaxy who has come to share the Wexxian dream of a peaceful future.

You may also notice (it is hard not to) the Sesmar Crater where a meteor struck around ten thousand years ago and created the great crater and also changed the planets orbit a great deal. the crater has been chosen as a location of the Dhulam NatureTender Temple (the area is a bit like Nepal and Himalaya so It is a good spot for a Temple!  ;) )

Ittiz have graced me with his artistic talent and made this:

Globe concept image of Azuron:  (click on the thumb nails to see the full images)

Atlas of Azuron:

Courtesy of Ittiz, Thanks mate. :D

The planet has multiple different environments, ranging from desserts to rainforests; suit many of the intelligent species in the galaxy. The ground is full of minerals and resources that have never been exploited due to the Wexxians preference of mining in zero gravity.

Characters:

Name:
Captain Xeno-Bravo-542.

Age:
 7

Race:
Wexxian

Information:
Captain of the Wexxian large transport; the Dreamer, was the first Wexxian to make contact with another species, was in charge of re-supplying the CAB peacekeeping forces during the Halcyon conflict, he was chosen to take command of the Wexxians first capital class ship when it was finished, died sadly after the Mother Sphere imploded.

Name: Taga-Omnius-Qesto-45, best known as Nemesis!

Age: 31

Race: Wexxian

Background:
Was started up around the time the Oifan-Umtag made first contact with the Wexxians! He was leading designer for most of the war ships in the Wexxian navy and a highly respected Wexxian! Tried to convince the Wexxian leader that the Wexxian ships should be equipped with lethal weaponry and opposed strongly the teraforming and interspecies colonization of Azuron! Nemesis had all his life despised "weak" species but due to a extremely high intelligence (even for a Wexxian) he had newer before the Necrid war, openly showed it to others! His ultimate goal is still unknown but guessing from his behaviour, It was probably Galactic domination and the extermination of "weak" species!

Description:
Known as the greatest and, so far only traitor, of the Wexxian people. His ambitions cost the lives of billions of innocent people as he tried handing over the galaxy to the Necrids by joining their crusade against all others. To this day the Wexxians still become tense and even aggressive when he is mentioned and many consider him to have been the single most evil being in modern history. He finally met his demise when the Originator was destroyed.

Name: Tagan-Enerva-59-2 "Axon"

Race: New-Wexxian

Sex: Unisex

Class: The closest thing you ever would get to a Wexxian Spec-Ops and Leader of the Wexxians.

Stats:

Dex 18
Str 9
Con 8
Wis 8
Int 18
Cha 4

Origin:
Axon grew up during the great split of the Wexxian species; some Wexxians scattered after the destruction of the Originator to all corners of the galaxy trying to escape the memories of the Necromonicon war. The rest became known as the New-Wexxians and tried to rebuild their civilization. This proved difficult since most Wexxians lost all faith in their own race after the betrayal of Nemesis.

Without the Originator, things proved to be nearly hopeless, when it was captured and later destroyed the Wexxians lost their home and as the years passed they also lost the influence in the galaxy, after mere five years the Wexxians where forced to resign their seat in the CAB senate due to the fact that their species could no longer be classified as a civilization.

In the midst of all this; Axon was created. Axon spent his juvenile years in the ruined shipyards in the Thishen system and worked his way up to the position of "Protector of the species"
This important task involved; among other things the protection of the Wexxian stations from space pirate attacks.
In the last years he has been searching the galaxy for means to rebuilding the Wexxian society.

After the Arcadia expedition Axon returned to his people and lead them out of their exile. He became the first leader of the unified Wexxians in more than 200 years and remains on of the greatest heroes of the Wexxian people.

Appearance:
Axon has no ordinary shell, instead he has transferred his entire programming to Nanobots there where previously used to cover a couple of old derelict Enforcer fighters. The nano-suit has the ability to change shape and Axon has previously used it to mimic other species in order to blend in with the crowd!

Special traits:
Descent mechanic (like most Wexxians), Avoids attention, Quiet, Owns his own ship (If you can call a New-Wexxian sloop a ship)

Inventory:
Shape shifting nano shell, one standard Wexxian Pacifier Ionic gun (Stuns electric systems and pierce through weak personal shields, can also be used against biologicals for stunning them temporally), A more deadly space pirate blaster using illegal Zetromicas gas and finally a cloak for disguising his features (It takes a lot of concentration to look like a biological!)

In the back the moon Companion orbits (notice the shading  ;D)

This is the Wexxian large transport Dreamer under the command of captain Xeno-Bravo-542 orbiting the Naucean Mother Sphere Serina.

Wexxian related art and fan-art from others:

Thanks to you all   ;)

My attempts at drawing a Wexxian met with failure I'm afraid, so there isnt one in this picture.

//<20s style music plays>
"News! On the Fly. A coporation news company."

"Dateline: Thishen system. The Newly terraformed Wexxian planet Azuron is treated to its first batch of ViS colonists, the result of the visionary ViS 1.2 project.
Go get 'em boys!"

A group of ViS scouts parks their vessel and climb a nearby hill. In the distance we can see the Wexxian Indigo city to the left, and the hulk of the ViS colony vessel on the right. ViS transport ships arent designed to land so the ship was purposefully crashed into the surface of the planet. Over the years it will be dismantled and used to build the fledgling ViS colony. Hundreds of small transports are now pouring out of the ship to scout out the planet and meet the Wexxians.
It is noteworthy at the ViS 1.2 have a number of different eye colours.

Thank you. Heres the new colony:

The colony on Azuron is quickly constructed and Named 'Nova City-1' (literally 'New City-1) after the ViS capital city: City-1  ;).
The towers are constructed in the new 1.2 architectural style and have huge glass walls which span multiple floors (not really glass, but  top-secret shatterproof ViS polymer). The Main tower houses all business, scientific and cultural constructions, as well as plazas, entertainment facilities, medical buildings etc and the two small towers are living quarters. Out to sea is Seabase-1 (which extends to the sea-floor at that level. It is the home of the marine study program and coordinates the population of the virgin Azuron oceans. Attached to the city is a ZP power-station and a communications array.
ViS light transports fly to and fro, taking supplies and commuters around the world and running trips to far off Indigo city.

This city is located on the cluster of (comparatively) small islands in the middle of the three larger continents on the map above.

The museum is complete! (ViS work fast)

An aerial view between the glass spires of Indigo city reveals the Azuron Museum of Modern Art (AMMA). Constructed entirely from a material somewhat like clouded glass the museum towers over the crowds gathered to celebrate its opening.
It is constructed in the minimalist style of the ViS.2 living on Azuron. The two statues represent Organic and Mechanical life, each holding up a model of Azuron.

The museum now need exhibits!

Here's a ball you don't want to kick. Wexxian fan art. =P

here is something new the first hand drawn wexxian model other then the baby one,and arzon dosen't count,he is a new wexxian.

i tried really hard to restarin myself from making that arm a giant cannon since wexxians are nice,it was done in a rush so not so much detail also, what kind of model does nemesis use

How's this?

I guess this would be a Wexxian that just did work and more work.  The arms would be great for lifting and building things while the side-mounted cannon-looking thing on the side could be used as an energy drill, welder and could be replaced with many other useful tools.

since the quality sucked i redid it in gimp

please post to tell me your opinion on the Wexxians

I really like the idea of them giving themselves mortality(good poem btw).  Do any of them ever decide they don't want to have a set life span or cause any type of problems like that?

I really like the idea of them giving themselves mortality(good poem btw).  Do any of them ever decide they don't want to have a set life span or cause any type of problems like that?

their life span is not set; the virus starts degraging their programing but Wexxians figth it as long as they can, the virus however is also semi-intelligent and gets harder figthing of and eventually it wins, but depending on the intelligence of the individual Wexxian it may take more time.

and no. no Wexxian has ever "yet" wanted immortality!

now it is time for a bit of culture:

Culture:   Due to the Wexxians form of reproduction, every Wexxian has a unique personality; this has given the Wexxians a broad culture that they are eager to build on by observing the good sides of every culture they come across.

This has unfortunally given them a light minority complex since they think that natural evolved life is better than their kind.  :-\

The best way to win the trust of the Wexxians is to treat them as equals. They’ll love that and love you for it.  ;D

until i figure out how to upload images to here, you can See my drawing of a Wexxian young at: http://www.sporewiki.com/images/8/83/Wexxian_young_new.JPG  (Sorry it is made in Paint)   :-[

by the way please post more comments and i would love to see if any of the artists out there would make a drawing of how they make a Wexxian (the young form is set however)  ;)

Do you plan to make the....."Grand Pranksters"?

Getting any replies on a creature thread is pretty lucky.

Yes, I am aware of the irony.

I already have a drawing. but no scanner to get it into my computer  :(

also i don't know if it would be right, they where pretty unknown and disappeared over a milion years ago. (Be glad about that, their version of a practical joke was blowing up a species home planet for no apparent reason)

I thought that they were ball like spheres. And artificial things start degrading without viruses, too. Iron rusts, plastic crumbles, and so on. Mechanical stuff gets out worn with time and break. Human cells grow back, but robot items do not grow.
