New creature: Avegunus
« on: April 09, 2006, 02:14:47 pm »
Yes, it's that time again!

OK, this is my new creature:

Cute, eh?

OK, so theese will be the first planned sentiants I make on spore.

Avegunus:
Theese creatures are possibly the weekest sentients in their known galaxy.
They are so weak, they would have been wiped out several times, yet somehow managed to pull through.
Being asexual (they don't need to mate), they have no gender discrimination in their scosiety.

They are about the size of your average hound-dog, and since they don't have the power to kill anything much bigger than them, they are omnivors. They eat mainly plants as well as scavenge meat, and kill anything they can.
They walk on all fours in the way monkeys do - their front hands are both grasper and feet, and they can rear up to use the graspers.

Many races would say they don't fit, as far as creatures go, they are weak sentients and their civilisation progressed weirdly.

See, as soon as they got to building cities, their main priorties were health care and making themselfs stronger.
They are the only known race to create mechs before planes.

Considering their size, they are suprisingly war-happy, so they're mechs are mainly based for fighting and lifting, the two things they cant really do well on their own.

As you can see, the mech is complicated, what you don't see is that it is directly plugged into the spine, and as such, everything below the neck becomes almost paralised.
The mech behaves exactly as their normal body does, and reacts to the same imputs from the brain.
The mech can walk on all fours, just as the avegunus can.

Main features: heavy-lifting arms, with powerfull grip.
Strong legs, grip pads on the feet, segmented toes and special joins make for very fast running and high jumping.
Retracting spikes on the feet act for self defence and can curl down quickly, digging into the ground to provide grip.
Lightweight materials meen that the suit is very manuverable.
Two turrets on the front of the suit, each move seperatly.
Powerfull gun/cannon embeded into each arm.
The avegunus' body is safe, curled in fetal position deeply in the suit.

I will probably add other designs of suit, as this isn't the only one.

When in war, wether on their home planet or forign worlds, the mechs come in many shapes and flavours, including air and water support.
Theese are probably the scariest, totaly week creatures to fight a war against...

Thanks for reading :D
I will update sometimes...
