152nd Boat Race
« on: April 02, 2006, 09:44:55 am »
I'm elated, because Oxford just powered through Cambridge to win the boat race! We creamed them by quite away after a brilliant start where we held them off till half way and some good coxing which forced Cambridge into rougher water.

For you in the US who haven't understood a word I just said:

And yes, I am at Oxford. Jesus College, in fact.

Apparently oxford had a pump bilging water out of the boat for them...

I'm not trying to say they cheated, I live near oxford and my Uncle went there so I support them.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

It was a tactical choice, Cambridge gambled, hoping that they'd be lighter without the pump. They guessed wrong, because in the end they took on more weight from the water than Oxford had from the pump.

I reckon we still would have won even if the tabs had the pump, because we were winning before they started taking on water.
