GDC Prototyping Powerpoint
« on: March 31, 2006, 02:05:26 pm »
I was looking around, with no particular aim on the internet, and I stumbled across this pretty little thing. It's the final prototyping powerpoint that was presented by Chris Hecker and Chaim Gingold at GDC '06. It shows of tons of prototypes of spore, it also shows some new creatures and that other races will approach you with missions in the space age. Oh boy, it's exciting!!!

http://www.slackworks.com/~cog/presentations/gdc06-AdvancedPrototyping.ppt

If clicking on the link doesn't work, right click and do "Save Target As..."

Unless you have a Mac, then you can, uh... not, do that.

Have you seen this one, or the old one? Because this one is different that the one that was posted last week.

theres some animated slides that are really giving me issues because I can't always control them, but I think I'm figuring out a way to view them repeatedly without it speeding through.

and the first slide has an animation with images of the texture editor!

and can someone with better powerpoint skills in managing animations on there take images of what I'm talking about? I am having enough difficulty trying to view them repeatedly,

also, they have a part in the slides where they have done like a million of prototypes with the creature editor, so they are really working on refining it

I know! What images did you want to see, I could get them out of the PowerPoint if you want.

they are in the animation thats inside the first slide, they are the ones with the texturing thing and several creatures including the one we've seen before in the texture image.

Very, very nice! Did you see the texture on that turtle? It looked awesome. If that's the kind of graphics we can expect I'd be thrilled.

This is probably a breach of copywright or something, but since the powerpoint is free for anyone to use, why shouldn't I?

Cool innit?

well as long as we don't sell it off as something else or try and use it for something thats not ours in a game or something I don't think its a breach of copyrights

and yea I saw the turtle :) I wanted to take a closer look at the animated slides, but due to my lack of experience with powerpoint I had no idea how to look at the individual animation pieces or take a closer look because some of them are interesting.

I know view slideshow works, but I want to control the rate that the animation goes in and zoom in on the interesting pics.

It is indeed awesome. I hope the whole game's like that.

This is probably a breach of copywright or something, but since the powerpoint is free for anyone to use, why shouldn't I?

IANAL, but that's probably okay under fair use guidelines.
