Huzzah for cheap games
« on: April 30, 2005, 10:58:50 pm »
I was at K mart and so Grabbed by the Goulies for $30 being a fan of games by Rare (in case my avatar hasn't given me away)i picked it up and it's a game that will keep me entertained for a while. Still havent seen "it's Mr Pants" anywhere in stores.

I have a friend who got transworld surf on xbox for like $7

Got to love finding games anyone else found some cheap gems?

ICO is one of my favorite games for the PS2, but it didn't really sell well. When I heard of it I went to Fry's and picked it up for $15. I don't think I've sat in front of my console for longer periods of time throughout the day before or since. ;) Also, Psychonauts is out for XBox, PS2, and PC. the console versions are about $50, but the pc version is only $30 at the places I've looked. I'm also thinking of getting Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay for my pc... which is only $20 now.

 ;D

Am I the only one who noticed that many of Rare's characters are comming from diddy kong raceing for the nintendo 64?

- Banjo
- Concker

both came from that game.

One of my friends said they saw another character appear in a gba game

Well actully banjo and Conker were both already in development when diddy kong racing was announced If my memory serves and both games went throgh a few of rares famous release push backs before they made it to console. Of course Conker going through the biggest change starting out as a game where you had to collect umbrellas and unicycles stuff like that to the foul mouthed toilet humor game we know and love.

Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay was great. And you can pick it up new for the Xbox for $20 as well.

And Cobra, not to make you feel bad but you might want to check EB Games or Gamestop and their used games section from now on as I saw Grabbed by the Goulies for just $14 used. Personally I always buy used games when I get a chance as they are always (or nearly always) tested to make sure they work. And even if you have a problem they will take the game back no problem.

I used to never buy used games, but once I started I never stopped. I don't buy used PC games since they aren't always in the best shape, but console games ... always.

Keep in mind thats probably american so double that and the game is going for $28 so really not much off a difference. Actully I been planning on heading down there to look at 2nd hand N64 games see if i can pick up banjo - kazooie as i used to have it before my house was robbed and I been listening to old B - K music and it made me feel all nostolgic.

Really? Looks like I'm going to have to pick it up sometime. Of course, I'll have to buy a new N64 controller while I'm at it. (Those N64 analog sticks sure wear out over time.)

Well, if you like platformers. I love platformers, they are probably my favoriate game genre, and I love this game. I actually played it all the way through twice (which I never do) and I think it's Rare's best game to date. Great level design, tight controls, crazy themes, and insane monsters. And the two leads, Banjo and Kazooie, are really funny. Just a great game.

I heard a rumor that they're going to make a new Banjo Kazooie game for the Xbox 360, which I hope to God is true.

I love platformers, 2D and 3D. I've read that it's a lot like Super Mario 64, but a lot more polished, with more moves and stuff to do.

I absolutely loved SM64 (you would have had to to force yourself to get all 120 of those freaking stars, like I did. 100 coins in Tick-Tock Clock anyone?). I guess I really ought to check out Tooie and Kazooie.

I actully went and baught a 2nd hand B-K today maybe I can redeem myself for cheating 1st time I played it and yes it was just as good as a remember and some parts better such as grunty taunting me as i travel through out the hub world and grunty's rythems man I kind of missed the fact they stopped her from doing that in tooie (lazy buggers). At least now if stop-n-swop ever gets released i can access it again.

I got KOTOR from Wal-Mart the other day for $20... probably could have bought it cheaper, but I figured it was a good find anyhow. I've pretty much continuously played for the past 5 days... I feel so sorry for Manaan.

i have been going on a retro-gaming spending spree... and i owe it all to gaming steve's retro reviews... it's made me get in touch with all those games i used to rent back in the day... so far, i've bought pry a dozen of them for dirt cheap prices :D... $15 is the most i payed for one of them... they were all mainly 64 games...

anyone remember blast corps for the n64? i was playing that a couple days ago... that game was very original, it brought an idea to the table never before seen(at least by me)... for those of you who don't remember, it involved numerous vehicles and you had to destroy everything in the path of a moving nucleur bomb... it was very addictive and fun! go buy it for only $8!

Blast Corps was great, and one of the very first "great" games for the N64. It was also Rare's first N64 game. That game was a ton of fun but it got really hard at the end. I used to love using J-Bomb (the robot w/jets). Damn that was a freaking crazy game.

They should defintely remake that game. It wouldn't be that hard to do and still be a ton of fun!

call me old-fashioned but i loved the dump truck... the handling on it was awesome... especially on the moon missions...

yea, they very well could do a remake of this game... i mean, all they would have to do is improve upon the graphics because the gameplay was solid... well, it'd be cool to see a totaly new one too :D...

Did you ever play the 3D platformer Gex? If so, you might change your opinion about Banjo being the best.

Gex was good, but Banjo was just so damn goofy, and the level designs so much fun (the last level where it changed during the four seasons was amazing), I just love that game. Here, perhaps this will explain it to you all a bit better...

You know that one game where can't stop playing, where you have to explore every single nook and cranny, collect every single item on every single level, talk to every single character, squeeze every single ounce of fun out of the game ... the game which sucks up your entire life and you need to master every single aspect of the game. That was Banjo Kazooie for me. It was that one game that totally sucked me in and wouldn't let me go. I'm not even sure why but somehow this game just connected with me 100%.

Ya I loved banjo kazooie and banjo tooie. But dont forget starfox 64,and Goldeneye 007.

Starfox 64 was the first video game I ever owned  ;D I got it in 1997. I still play it every now and again today. I have played every ending and every lvl conbination imaginable.

And for those who have played thorugh both endings know.. I have escaped the final lvl without following foxes father.

When I first played starfox 64 I couldnt get through level 2 aeteriod feild. Now I have memorised every attack pattern.

Whats your favorite lvl? I like zonise (or how ever its spelled) The green toxic waste planet. I also liked the lvl right before venom if you played the game through the hard way.

Im just sad that the last 2 starfox games just havent compared with this.  :(

dude! goldeneye 007 is THE BEST FPS GAME EVER!!! not to mention, their multi-player mode was never dull... i was the master of multi-player... no one could beat me, and i went up against at least 20 people in my lifetime who have claimed that they were very good as well... lol, i am sure i am a bit rusty seeing as how i haven't played it in a couple years but still, i was the man ;)... and that's one interesting fact that i will cherish forever... no one ever beat me(except in the beginning when i was new to the game)... i always wondered how well i would of fared in a goldeneye-multiplayer-convention-thing if there ever was one...

I have to disagree that 007 was the best FPS ever.  I was good, don't get me wrong, but I would have to say Half-Life was way better.  007 was just the first good FPS on a console.

My favorite level of Star Fox 64 was the defence base, so many hostiles.  It was great.  My least favorite was Aquas, it ran way to slow.

Only ever played Banjoo Kazooie once, will have to try and find a copy.  The list of old games to find just grows.

Ah, you're wrong, too. System Shock 2 is without a doubt the best FPS ever with AvP close behind it.

I remember playing with my friends, saying "no one can be the short guy, and Dont camp the golden gun!"

I belive the guys name was objob.. (or something like that)  You had to aim down when he kneeled so he had the advantage in every fight

Oddjob was a character from the old James Bond movies, with Sean Connery (when Bond was still cool). I used to play as him, but my friend always killed me because he'd look down just enough so when he pulled the trigger he'd always hit me in the head. :'(

I have never tried No One Lives Forever, and only started System Shock 2.  More bloody games to go and play.  Who needs a next geneartion.  At this rate I'll never finish my current To Play list.

Oddjob was fun to play as, but for a real challenge try playing as Jaws against Oddjob. You have to look straight down just to see him if he's anywhere NEAR you.
