"My creature/animal thingies."
« on: March 27, 2006, 05:08:36 pm »
Well, I decided to draw my own creature. It's just a random crazy dinosaur-ish thing I made up as I went. I haven't even thought of a name for him yet. I think he has potential, though. I don't have a scanner. Trust me: I only draw this bad when I'm using a mouse...

http://artpad.art.com/?iwtboe4u4io

I don't know why, but I just felt like using the ArtPad thing.

If I, for any reason, end up making this guy, I'd give 'em lots of brain power. I don't know why, I just like the idea of a crazy, yet smart, race of smaller creatures. Also, I like to have a more cartoony look to mine.(All of them!)

And if you didn't already know, I'm kinda new here.  ;)

EDIT: Disregard the "I don't have a scanner" part. (I have one now)

Not another dragon!

Yeah, I know...It's great, ain't it?

But seriously, I know how many other people are doing reptillian-like creatures--Guess that's what got my mind on it. Creativity is something I apparently don't have today. Don't worry, I find some way to get some more unique animals on the 'net.

Welcome to the forum and I love your avatar, its so funny.

Your creature is kind of cute even if it is a dragon, but i like dragons. The sun was amusing too. You should do more drawings.

Actually, you're right! I've seen all the Madness episodes.

(To everyone else:) Thank you for taking the time to look at it. I know it's not the most amazing drawing in the world. Also, I've been trying to think of another creature, but haven't drawn it as of yet.

Well, I magically came across a scanner. ::) And was able to sketch something up real quick.

(As you can see...) I went completely random on this...thing. It's not too farfetched, but, once again--has potential. This(probably for sure)won't be my main creature, but I kinda like 'em. He's like a catfish-lanturn fish combination. Anyone find it...'interesting', at least? :-\

I like it. I don't think it would have an actual lightbulb in that dangler though  ;)

I like the lightbulb. It adds a stylistic touch that I haven't seen enough with the creatures.

-Understated elegance.

Wow, I wasn't expecting people to like it so much. (Whoo!)

I like the lightbulb too. I just threw it on to ummm..... make him look funnier.(Yes, I realise you probably can't make a glass bulb in the game.) Anyways, thanks for all the positive input!

I'm sure this isn't the last you've seen of me. (In other words, I'm sure to make more. ;)) Also, I've been trying to think up a good backstory to this race. I've got a few good ideas.(But I'm too lazy to type 'em up)

Okay, this next one is a concept for the catfish thing(which I haven't settled on a name for. But I'm close!)

This is a water/land vehicle(Airboat)that that's used to get around on the bayou/swamp world that I'd like them to inhabit. Also notice how small the shack is compared to the boat--My bad!(I'm a little rusty when it comes to proportions...And drawing "3D"..)Not as good as I wanted it to come out, but good 'nuff.(In other words, I can do better.)

(This one's still very sketchy)
I'd like to think of them as being 'Cajun-esque.' I find that funny.

Can you stick a gun on it and use it to shoot down helicopters?

A gun to shoot down heicopters? Why stop there? I'd put a gun on to shoot up everything. That's just the kind of destructive ideas I've been looking for. ;)

Enough already! Yes, I like mindless destruction as much(or more) than the next guy, but come on! I'm gonna save all that good stuff for one of my more hostile races.(if I make one) If you couldn't already tell, catfish things with lightbulbs on their heads don't exactly seem like they should be all crazy like that.

Okay, here's another creature. This one actually has a name! I call it a Glail. I like this guy, he's pretty cool. Yes, that's a giant eye on it's tail.   :P

Now, I actually made up a story for these guys.(Since everyone else seems to be doing it)

Now, you'd think they'd see very well with the giant eye they have, right?...That's partly true. They can see good--but they're bad at perceiving depth. So, they tend to bump into things alot, and are quite clumsy. Their large-ish ears also have an above average hearing ability, and that helped them along somewhat. Luckily for them, there weren't many pretators where they lived, so they managed to survive. Eventually, they invented something(haven't decided what yet) that partly solved their seeing problem. They actually became very smart after awhile(after learning how to use the grasper, that I threw on their back, effectively)and mostly keep to themselves. In other words, they're mostly peaceful. (I can't think of any more details at the moment...)

Any comments, questions maybe?  ;)

Oh, that. Those are just there to, um.... (In technical terms)Exaggerate the fact that they don't have eyes on their face and/or show where eyes would be if it had them......plus, it makes them look more comical(in my opinion).

How big?...Hmmmm... Let's say, 5 1/2ft from top of eye to toe... And just under 2 1/2 ft from back to toe(Not counting grasper.)

And, uhhh...I can almost understand if people call it "cute"...But "really cute"?.....Oh well! At least it's good criticism. ;) (Afterall. People call Happy Tree Friends cute, and they're some of the most violent cartoons ever!)
