Installing Oblivion? Grab a Snickers.
« on: March 21, 2006, 03:14:28 pm »
I picked up my pre-ordered copy this morning and then had to go to work. After enduring that torture I just got home and started the install. 20 minutes later and it's almost complete!

What have we learned? If you plan to install Oblivion, grab a Snickers.

Damn, I thought there was advertising on the install screen for a second.  Don't scare me like that!

Yeah, when you start the game on the 360 there is a long load time (only one)

But I'm glade I don't have to wait 20 min. Although I would rather have it for the PC. Turns out the consle don't work on the 360 when you plug in a USB keyboard

Install Sim City 4 and its expansion, then we  can talk.

Or try installing The Sims and all of its expansions.

Well, ive been waiting with everyone else for this game. I pre-orderd it from Take2 online store, but my copy wont get to me until thursday. Im sure i will enjoy this game as much if not more than everyone else. I lived off morrowind for a year, and im sure this game will rock. Here is my computer spec's, i upgraded for this exact game.

AMD Athlon 3500+, Geforce 7800GT 256, 2gigs or ram, 200 gb harddrive, and a new Sound card by creative.

That is quite nice.

The only thing I have on all of the awesome video card people is my RAM.

Although I owned that guy with a 7900 who was bragging...

I don't think it took anymore than 4-6 minutes for me. *shrug*

And I don't have a "super computer" either.

AMD XP2500+
1GB RAM
Geforce 6800

Weird indeed... Maybe it was because I was installing it to my back-up harddrive??? I got it installed and the game rocks!

It also installed surprisingly fast for a 4GB+ game, although I have the DVD edition. I'm not sure on exact install time, but it was fast. Also, the load times for me are never more than like 15-20 seconds. Also this game owns.

you cant get the game in CD's. That would be like 6 CD's, and beth saved money with DVD's only.

Bleh, I printscreened my chararacter so I could post a screeny but it didn't work :( Installing the game went quick for me. Load times are incredible. The word "loading" pops up while playing every once in a while but I do not even notice any lag. The loading when I travel to a new map or into a building is never more than 5 seconds. Wonderful, wonderful coding on Bethesda's part. The engine looks so gorgeous, I thought it was going to kill my system, but it doesn't. :)
