Creature territory starfield starmap
« on: March 18, 2006, 08:07:40 am »
Now theres a fair bunch of creatures around i think it would be nice to have some sort of galactic map showing whereabouts their territories are. Looking at some of the starfields people have made in the 'galactic library' thread it would be nice to use one of those and then overlay semitransparent territories.

What does everyone think?

Ugh. It would take forever and there'd be multi-galactic empires all over the place and a ton of people asking other people to add their creature here and there.  :-X
You do it! :D

Ah, but the size of the territory would depend on the popularity of the creature. Anyone whose creature only gets one vote will be confined to their home planet :P

I predict the dominant forces of the galaxy would be something like this (in order of decending power):

Nauceans
Kazea
Baobas
ViS
Torpal
Quillaran
and some others :P (excuse any ommisions)

Of course you realize the Abana ruled most of the galaxy when the whippersnapper races where still in their primordial soup. ;D

They're long over their zenith of power. As all elder races, they've regressed into their main sphere of influence and become rather isolationist.

My Kazea actually live on their homeworld when the other species are wizzing about in the universe. I reckon it would be improbable in the extreme to have them be space farers at the same time as everybody else. So Akaz is just a dot on the map, sorry.

Think of the Nauceans like the "Asgard" on the Stargate TV shows. Brainy, peaceful scientist which kickass technology that they don't share unless you save their butts :P

Cauceans? funny mispelling lol.

also, not all of the races have to have an empire, it can be sorta like star trek or star wars or probably just about any sci-fi show with many, many starfaring races and not all of them have empires, sure they could claim a couple systems as thier territory or claim some world somewhere as a mining colony, but all of the races need to have a substantial empire to have members of thier race travelling around.

The Tschai should have thier own empire since they are a war-like race and besides I made thier info saying they have an empire, and the Kintorrah don't need to have thier own empire and can just be allied.

I know we have the star map thing on Planetspore although its skewed for me, however I was thinking of something that would show territories, etc.

lol, well of course the Torpal would have thier empire... and thier legions of slaves from defeated empires :) even if the torpal are warriors, they can't fight everybody :) The Nauceans would probably sic an engineered plague on them if the Torpal tried to make war with them anyway :)

i dont think i see the torpal as slave-keepers...they kinda just, you know, kill everybody...plus i think they'd frown upon laziness... :P
though, i guess if they find races that are exceptionally good fighters, they'd let some of them live in little colonies for whatever reason...so, yeah, i guess they could have an empire...

Hmmm. The idea is pretty unimplementable really.

The Vis would control a huge expanding swathe of space full of stripped planets and dotted with colonies and so forth.

yea well its a neat idea, and you're right with the loads of species and more appearing over time, it would be very difficult to do, plus the fact that ppl would argue over 'hey, I want this territory!' kind of stuff.
