My new creature aclion
« on: March 15, 2006, 07:01:01 am »
Basically I want a race that will be like a flying serpent/fish. My intent was for it to be fast, although he just doesn't seem fast...Don't know why. In a nutshell it's a herbivore that can fly. It's a mammal so it can't last forever underwater, but it can last an extremely long time. Because it can fly it is able to spread across the planet to other possible lakes or oceans.

Not too be overly critical or anything, but how can it fly again? Also, just because it's a mammal doesn't mean it can't last underwater, just look at dolphins and whales and such.

It's terradactlyish in the sense it doesn't have feathers. That isn't a very accruite drawing of my concept. And sorry for bumping, but I feel bumping is worse then actually creating a brand new post.

It doesnt seem very fast because its too rounded. If it was a little more pointy and angular it would probably look faster and more 'streamlined'
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Pterosaurs are lizards, only mammals who fly are bats, your creature doesn't look like a mammal.

Dolphins and whales can't last forever underwater.
They have to come up to the surface to breath.
They can last an incredibly long time underwater, but not forever.

Looks really good but I also don't see how it could fly, u said it wasn't a very accurate drawing, can you draw a more accurate one? I'm curious about it.

It still doesn't seem to fit exactly what I'm thinking, but I feel it is closer to my original goal.

Personally (no offense but) his picture makes him look like he is going to eat the bug not stare in amazement at it (come to think of it who really stares in fascination at snails that are moving like 1/2 of a mile an hour.) He is pretty cool though. He doesn't seem like he is gonna be very high on the food chain because it seems that small animals that eat plants won't survive.
In total I would give him a 7/10 for looks 8/10 for origninality and a 5/10 for survival. So in total a 20/30
Grade: C

It can fly! I tried to make it look fast, but I don't want it to look angular either...
