Lego Death Star
« on: April 17, 2005, 04:22:52 pm »
Wow, this thing looks awesome, and it costs more than the PSP.

* 25 inches high, 19 inches wide.
* 3441 pieces!
* $299.00!

It doesn't come out until September 30th though. I guess I Can get the Lego Imperial Star Destroyer instead (3104 pieces, also $299).

That is cool, I actually have a working wall clock that I made out of ... paper. Yep, the entire thing is made from paper, the gears, the weights (with pennies glued inside the paper layers), the handles, everything.

It was actually a kit I bought like 10 years ago and they had lots of cool things you could make out of paper. Can't seem to find it on Google though, I will try to find it as it's a fun project.

I would pay good money to see a video of somebody playing with the Imperial Star Destroyer and then dropping it off a table or something and it shattering into thousands of pieces.

Hmm... I bet I could collect orders and then make the video myself, funding the set with the proceeds from video sales. Ka-ching!

I'd hate to see the instruction booklet for eaither of those. I loved LEGOs but when they started to make pieces that where only usefull in the packs they sent you I relaly lost my interest, good o' bricks where the way to go. I used to build mech armor for my lego guys.

Yeah, I've still got a big tub of just tons of bricks. I always ended up making big multicolored forts.

Those are awsome.  I've wanted the star destoryer for some time now.  Wish I would have gotten the X wing and Tie Fighter when I had the chance.

I wouldn't have the patience to assemble any of them but I'd love to look at it if someone else wants to do it.  :)

I agree. I also hate how 90% of LEGO now is based off of movies and other licenses.

I found this video of a couple who built a Lego Star Destroyer. It took them over 10 hours to complete it and they captured it all on a time lapse camera.
The clip is just over 4 mins long.

That video is fantastic.  I so need to get me one of those.  Taking over 10 hours to build a lego model is a dream come true.
