Have to agree with War of the Worlds being one of the worst.  Besides it's name, and the fact it was about aliens, it is almost nothing like the original.  However, I did like the voice over at the begining, it was an updated version of the one from the musical.  Very cool.

A British studio was making a more accurate version, but the trailer only really showed bad acting and even worse CG.  I doubt it'll even get released.

Best: Dawn of the Dead
Worst: Psycho

Oh my! The psycho remake was not only pointless but also totally crappy. A shot for shot remake? Why? The original Marion was more attractive than Anne Hesch anyway :P
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory was a loyal adaptation of the book, not a remake of the movie.

Willy Wonka was meant to be a creep.

Well the oompa loompa songs were also a mess. I just like the 70's version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory. I thought Gene Richards (i forgot his name) played an excellent Wonka and the story had a good twist at the end.

Gene Wilder. It was Wilder. Just so you know.
What meme is relevant right now? Look, just imagine I'm riffing on that. Updating signatures is exhausting.

I have been told
not by one but two of my lovers
that I've got a heart of gold
but I'm unable to share it with others
They call me a poet who'll never have a poem
a tiger with no taste for bone
I'm the wonderful wonderful wizard who's waltzing alone

I liked The Dukes of Hazzard as a movie, but as a remake it totally sucked. It wasn't like the original series at all. Which is not a good thing, because the original was awesome

I have seen a lot of remakes, but not the movies they remaked... One I have seen the original of was HG Wells The Timemachine, the original one is pretty good, but the remake isn't a hole lot like it, and of course they had to put that hole "I am going to rescure my wife" thing into the new one.

Another one I have seen is Lord Of The Flies, my class had an entire project about it so I have seen both movies and read the books. I didn't really like any of them that much (their are ok, but not that good), but the new movie is just to "American". Suddenly they all Americans and from a military school and other crap like that.

Best: Possibly Insomnia. Haven't seen the Norweigian original yet, but if I get the chance I will. Dawn of the Dead is the remake which owns the original so hard it's almost scary. And it's no masterpiece.

Worst: Manchurian Candidate sucked as a movie, but as I haven't seen the original, I cannot tell. I usually stay away from remakes unless they get really good ratings.
