Red Storm Rising
« on: March 12, 2006, 05:39:25 pm »
Tom Clancy wrote it about 20 years ago (You know, when his books were exciting and all).

Its my favorite book, its a good look at what a modern world war could be like.

That was a great book.  Too bad about that was the high point of his career, quality wise.

That one I should check out. I always wanted to read something by Clancy, after playing Splinter Cell avidly, but his books are so horrible. If that one's his best, it might be worthwhile.

Yeah, check it out.  Not much spy stuff, but great epic WW3 story.

That is one of his better books, but personally i find Without Remorse better more for some reason. Probably because it involves killing pimps and drug lords...

Best Clancy book, IMO, as well. And for the exact same reasons too.

Yeah, Clancy really jumped the shark when he made Jack president...

I liked Red Storm Rising but Without Remorse is my favorite Clancy book.  I really liked how he played with Clark in that book

This one and Hunt for Red October were the two I liked most. Rainbo Six was okay. Nowadays, I hate walking into the bookstore/airport/etc. and seeing a million books with "Tom Clancy" taking up two thirds of the cover, and then the real author's name written all tiny on the bottom. I don't follow him that much, but when was the last time he actually authored a book of his own and didn't use some freelance writer?

I've read practically the whole series (don't know why) although i seemed to skip The Hunt for Red October (don't know why), but i'm reading it right now (don't know why...)...
