New Creature: Lake Monk
« on: March 11, 2006, 04:51:50 am »
The lake monk, probably the biggest rodent i'll have on my planet. he stands on all fours at an average height of 3-4 ft. they scurry/waddle on lad and arent very fast. but under water they can propel thier boyant bodies at great speeds. in defense against predators they extend thier spikes and spin in a circle either towards or away from thier assailant. this spinning makes it hard for the predator to make a clean attack without becoming injured.
The monk-like dots on thier foreheads are actually they're nostrils, each pair leading to its own little air sack, of which oxygen can be pushed into the lungs in order to stay under water for a longer amount of time.

This one looks really funny. Although it wouldn't suprise me if he attacks everything near him.
A multitude of rulers is not a good thing. Let there be one ruler, one king.

Oooh, okay I get it.  When I first saw your title, I thought you were referring to the short, fat, bald guys that pray a lot.  ;)  But now I get that it's like a chipmonk, except in a lake.

This guy's songs are freaking awesome! Just look at that earbean picture as my avatar!

This is great. You should really color all these creatures you are doing.

Looks a bit like a cross between a beaver and an armadillo. Working my way through the new creature threads here and so far Dake's are looking pretty cool.
There is a method to my madness. That method is in and of itself quite mad, but it is method nonetheless.

Yeah, I especially like your stuff Dake, both for inventiveness and sheer output (How many critters have you drawn by now?)  I especially like this guy because A. no one's really done a beaver-like design in an animal, and I think it is a rather funny body design, and 2. because he looks cute, almost like you could laugh at him, but dangerous as well, like he'll bite off your ankles if you laugh.
Either way, he looks far different from the Spore denizens I'm making.
Leave to a Thark his head and one hand and he may yet conquer.
