 :o !!

I'm surprised this thread isn't bursting at the seams! That's incredible.  Pleeease don't abuse this, though, we don't want to inundate him with questions and have him quit answering them.

I imagine anything, as long as it isn't "OMGGGG WILL WRIGHT!! SPORE DEMO PLS" :D

I can't think of anything worthwhile, personally. That and it's like.. Will Wright! I guess I'm a bit of a fanboy, but, you know.. Will Friggin' Wright.

I even got a little nervous emailing Steve.  :-[

Maybe, "Are there plans to release one of the editors early, like the Create-A-Sim for The Sims 2?"

I assume he has no problem with non-confidential ye/no questions.

I'm sure anyone can email him, but if he responds to my multiple space vehicles inquiry then I'll send that.  And if he answers that question that will settle a huge amount of debate here, OR it will start up a new explosion of discussion.

Let's hope it is the last one, thinking that the possibilties of multiple spaceships would loose more debate. And I would just love space battle.

Well, don't forget, the GDC is this month. :D

They have a few Maxis reps registered to speak about Spore, if I remember correctly, so let's go easy on the questions untill then.

On the other hand, he might be inundated with even MORE questions afterwards.

Maybe we should just compile a big email with a lot of our most important questions...

I was just thinking...most of the questions being asked are about small details about the gameplay or editors, but the main reason I have such a huge interest in Spore is because of how it it being developed.  I would ask how well these things worked out:
whether procedural content has meant a huge increase in dev time and bugs and to what degree that offsets the gain from not needing an army of artists,
and lots of questions about prototyping, like how you explain to your bosses at EA that you are spending all this time on these things instead of working on the "real" game, whether you tend to keep expanding a prototype to test new things, or try to keep them simple as possible, whether you do almost all your prototyping during preproduction or continue whipping up prototypes throughout, whether you have dedicated prototypers or who actually codes up a prototype, and so many more...

I think a lot of it will be addressed in Eric Todd's GDC lecture, Spore: Preproduction Through Prototyping.
Use those talents you have. You will make it. You will give joy to the world. Take this tip from nature: The woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except those who sang best.

well, i sent him an email a while back, and posted on another site, and almost got my feet cemented and tossed into a river. I assume that if it not Will that answers, it is someone authorized to answer in his place. I asked about it being ported to Mac, and he said that most of his games are, as long as Aspyre agree to do it. Granted, this was a while ago now.

I know everyone is saying that we should "keep it easy" but trust me, him answering emails isn't taking up time that isn't MEANT to be answering emails.  He WANTS peopel to have interest in the game and he'd (or someone with his authorization) answers questions for him as efficiently as possible.  I Chose detail questions because I didn't want to bother him with writing a speech (which is what that "effects of procedural content" might need).  I just asked Yes No because I know he has a lot of questions all the time, I just sent the simplest questions that could be answered easily and provide PLENTY of information about the game.  I personally think it's cool if procedural content helps out, but I'd rather know details of spore then artist counts :), but that's just me.  I'm hoping he gets to my email about multiple vehicles and clears that all up.

GDC is this month?  Shouldn't Steve have a post saying what questions we want him to ask Will or something?  Don't tell me hes not having a interview with him!  Anyone know?

Ug, I got a stupid pink unicorn, hope next is better.

March 20-24, yep.

Don't we already have a list of questions in a sticky?

Don't get your hopes up too much though... These don't look like spore presentations - just seminars on game development using spore as an example of concepts.

Yeah thers a Dev sticky post, but its been up for so long I don't even know if its even looked at.  I just thought if Steve actually had an interview with him (which now it sounds like probably not) that he would have a post for specific questions to ask this time.

Ug, I got a stupid pink unicorn, hope next is better.

Wow Mason, it's great you got answers on your questions.
