Do you think you will be able to make mechs and transformers in spore? just imagine this 300 times bigger with missiles and guns!

thats pretty cool. I know its possible on a large scale technologically, but I'm not sure how it would be done in the game itself. it would require some animation planning.

simpler ones could happen though as in an amphibious vehnichle or from a helicopter to an airplane.

Dude, that's awesome. I was going to reply questioning the point of transformers outside of an actual transformer related context, but after watching the little vid my opinion is swayed. Even on a such a small scale that's gotta be one of the coolest robotic demonstrations I've ever seen. The walk seems a little gimpy, but I suppose that's only to be expected. And of course it'd be the Japanese to make something like that, they do love their giant fighting robots.
There is a method to my madness. That method is in and of itself quite mad, but it is method nonetheless.

Whoa!  That is very cool.

Transformers would be a hell of a feat for the procedural animation system to handle well, I imagine.
Use those talents you have. You will make it. You will give joy to the world. Take this tip from nature: The woods would be a very silent place if no birds sang except those who sang best.

speaking of mechs... *prepare for slight thread highjacking*

in the 60's, the US government contracted GE to develop these 4-legged mech things...they didn't use them in the Vietnam war, but think if they had, and had continued that avenue of research...we could've had giant robots today! 8)

...but we don't. :'(

Just give it another 30 to 50 years, bound to happen.

Probably no. I imagine it was just Reagan who watched too much Star Wars again and got a little carried away.

Anyway, giant robots are stupid, just hit one of the legs and they're stalled.

Let's say they had an editor which shared both creature and vehicle parts (we don't know where these robotic parts we've seen are supposed to go, remember?). You build one from any of those parts and mark it "vehicle", then, using the same parts you chose (no adding new parts!) you build a creature shape. Procedurally animating the two stages would already be well within the capabilities of spore... and the transformation - while not exactly realisticly looking - would be easy to do simply by shifting parts.

oh ya they could make it so you could make mechs easy they would just have to make it like the animal editor but with mettle and stuff
