anyone read Cell yet?
zombies are even more creepy Stephen king style

but the part about disease causing exploration is pretty cool
if we had to flee the oldworld because a plague killed off most people how would history have turned out
imagin the colonies repopulating europe after a massive devestation...

The idea is to mix one ingredient that will burn very fast with a second ingredient that will supply enough oxygen for that burning. This burns so fast, it's an explosion.

haven't got to read cell yet, but I want to...and the torpal disease didnt really cause the exploration, it just caused the to groups to cease contact with each other after they had already set up colonies...but yea, that would be interesting if that happened in human history (during the time of colonies and whatnot...)

and this one's not too great, I did it moderately quickly, but, sorry, I just couldn't help myself! ;D

Okay this is a Torpal Rural Militia Member fighting a zombie-torpal. For a bit of factual information, the Torpals' Rural Militias were smaller towns' armed forces, also a bit like the police. In that sense, the Torpal pictured would be similar to that of a Swat member...

okay well, I was trying to do pics in chronological order, but meh...I've come up with plenty of things for present day/future things, so I've given up on that...

anyway, here is a diadem:

Upon their creation, diadems were one of the most influential weapons of their time. Diadems are spherical
robots, about 2 feet across, that are capable of hovering. Each diadem has three mechanical tentacles (think Doc Ock) and a visual-sensar thing. Once released, diadems move through a battlefield searching for enemy soldiers. Once they find a target, diadems use their tentacles to grasp the soldier, preventing escape. When the soldier is helpless, the diadem, filled with explosives, self-destucts, killing all in its blast radius. Larger models were also made later on for anti-vehicular use.

They look like eyeballs with tentacles to me.
There is a method to my madness. That method is in and of itself quite mad, but it is method nonetheless.

okay here is a Torpalian "wonder", the Palmyrian Tower.

As they were going about conquering space, the Torpal realized that not all planets would have worthy opponents. So to fix this problem, they created the Palmyrian Towers. On every planet they encounter that is inhabited by newly-sentient life, or creatures with a promise of sentience, the Torpal construct a Palmyrian tower. The towers are X feet tall (I didn't really figure the height out, but the little dots in the upper-left picture are abvout 7-foot tall beings, so that should give you an idea), and made of immense stone blocks, with a golden symbol for Zesh on the top of every side of the tower. Sitting atop the tower is a room made of a super-strong metal alloy. When a species is advanced enough to both reach the top of the tower and find a way inside the room, that species is technologically advanced enough to face the Torpals. Once inside said top room, a creature follows a simple Simon-type color-matching excercise, which activates two things: one, a signal sent to the nearest Torpalian stations letting them know that the planet is ready for war, and two, a holographic video for said creature, showing activation of the signal, and Torpalian forces arriving to fight. This part, the Torpals believe, will encourage technologically-advanced, but peaceful, species to develop weapons by the time the Torpals arrive. Through a healthy dispersion of Palmyrian Towers, the Torpal are assured they alway have a worthy adversary to face...

Only problem is, even a moderately-advanced race could topple the tower and active the message...

Although, then I suppose it proves they are warlike... so it did its job anyways.  :D
