I'd better make sure to include you as the source then, Steve.  ;) Actually right now, the only Spore news I have has a link to you.

Heh, I actually find that just about all web sites do list their source. I am not too worried about that, but a little letter from a lawyer saying that a web site is illegally reprinting information without listing the source usually gets people into line very quickly. Again, I'm not too worried, I myself visit around 50 gaming web sites a day, there is lots of room for lots of sites.

I'm just trying to save the topic from falling to the next page...

Please, come and join the forums! They're quite quiet now, since E3 is merely a week away, but why not join adnd post what's on your mind? And if not now, then after E3, come over and see what the others are talking about.

Thanks,
Sash

erm....are you saying that you should only go to one forum?

Why not go to more than one? I'm not asking you to leave here.

What's your forum got that this doesn't is what I think he means.
EDIT*** Oh, and not to be mean or anything (Even though it will come off like it) but I think you should get someone to design your webpage for you. You are trying to make some cash right? First impressions always count. On that note, if you decide against getting it designed at least remove the splash page or make it a reasonable size. It's a huge image with nothing in it that is too large a filesize.

Na, I dont want to make cash. As for the site design, it's difficult. I'm making it myself, simply cause I want to. But I'm trying to design a webpage viewable in all resolutions, resonably, whilst working on a very high resolution myself. So for me, and others with a big resolutions, it's OK. But if someone with a smaller resolution comes along, it's an enormous page. If I made it smaller, it would fix the problem for the small resolutions, but be barely visible on the higher ones.

However, I AM working on a new site design. I was hoping this one would be temporary.

Thanx for the tips.

Well, your site works well on 1024x768 (which isn't that much of a high resolution these days). On the stats for my page, from the last 100 visitors, 53% had a 1024x768 resolution, while the rest had higher ones.
But if I were you, I would remove the splash page too. I bet it uses up a lot of bandwith, and it doesn't do much to the site. And anyways most sites do not use splash pages anymore.

Use percentages in all of your tables and use more modular images and your site can be viewed on nearly all resolutions. My site does this and you can look at even on like 320x200... well, not that low, but you get the idea.

Thanks for the tip. I did try, but I've been getting a problem where the percentages keep going back to 50% all the time.

Anyway, the site is now rid of the large graphics, and has a much cleaner (albeit, slightly boring) look to it. I hope you like it. The purple is still there, though...

Well, percentages can be a problem if you do them in a program like Frontpage or Dreamweaver I suppose; I do all my stuff in Notepad, so it does what I tell it, no matter what.

You could try doing a few things at fixed sizes, like the top and sides that need to be the same size, then put your main content in a percentage thing... er, I'm not being very clear. Here, I'll post the table that I use on my site:

Code: [Select]
<table cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="100%" height="800" bgcolor="#C0C0C0" frame="border"> //100% width, could do percentage for height if I wanted, but I don't feel like changing it
<tr>
<td width="100" height="100" bgcolor="#C0C0C0" valign="top"> //Note how this is fixed
<p align="center"><img src="images/sean.jpg"></p> //Just sean connery
</td>
<td width="100%" height="100" bgcolor="#C0C0C0" valign="top"> //Only the height of the top is fixed, and since the width is 100% it takes up as much width as it can
<p align="center"><img src="images/title.jpg"></p> //Just the logo
</td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td width="110" height="100%" bgcolor="#C0C0C0" valign="top"> //Here is the nav bar, the height takes up as much space while the width is fixed; it's the opposite of the top basically
//tons of nav bar junk was here, took it out for space considerations
</td>
<td width="100%" height="100%" bgcolor="#C0C0C0" valign="top"> //And here is the main content area which takes up as much space as it can and will scale to fit the browser
</td>
</tr>
</table>

Yay! That's pretty much it. I don't know if this can really help you if Dreamweaver or whatever keeps insisting on changing the table percentages, though.

Thanks for the help. I'll see if I can get it to work.

Now that E3's over, it's a great time to join our forums! It's a place to hang out and discuss what's on your mind, and about Spore. But please, if you're going to register, come back. There's no point in registering and then not posting.

I put it in the Spore forum and then someone moved it here cause they thought it didn't belong there.
