Topic: What Kind of Games Do You Play?

Which of these game genres do you play? This is only games you play the most often. I'll use myself as an example. I like FPS's, but I rarely play them. Therefore, I would not select "Shooters."

Also, you may notice that I stole this list from Nintendo Power, but I don't really care.

I play a fair amount of games pretty regularly.  I guess though if I had to pick just one, I'd say Action.  Although strategy comes in pretty close.  -leeman

I play everything, but my tastes change as the games do. I don't usually play action games that much, but when something like God of War comes around it peaks my interest in other action games. Same thing with traditional "adventure" games, I used to love these games more than any other, but as the technology chaned I played less and less of these games.

Basically if it's a game, I'll try it.

Can anyone name any pure-adventure games out there? The only ones I can think of are either action-adventure or puzzle-adventure games.

I play mostly rpgs, but do enjoy a sports or racing game to kill time, i also play fps games but i dont really like them on consoles - purely for the fact that its easier to control on the pc.

How would you define pure adventure without action or puzzles?  It seems that in most games with a sense of adventure you have to accomplish things either through combat or figuring things out or a combination of both.  I can't imagine something that has neither of these qualities and still provides an adventure unless it's defined by not having a ton of either of these two qualities, in which case... Oregon Trail?  -leeman

Wow, I totally forgot about Oregon Trail.

I just mention it because I couldn't think of a reason to put a check in the Adventure box when there were Action and Puzzle boxes there too.

Nowerdays mostly RPGs.  I used to play lots of Sports games but they have got slightly old now.  I still play the occasional FPS.  Of course i'm still an RTS veteran, but there are no good ones at the moment, and no good ones coming out.

well, almost. I probably play sporting games the least though. Why do on the computer what you could do outside?
By the way, does anyone else think that games like UT and Q3 should be labelled shooters/sports?

I didn't like DoW... don't know why, just felt it was a little tacky.  Also me not particularly being a fan of Warhammer didn't help much!

I love good puzzle games.  But I also get into racing games (Burnout fan), some RPGs (Diablo II, BG Dark Alliance), Fighting games (Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Dead or alive, Soul Calibur) ,  Classic arcade games (from the 70/80s), certain flight/piloting simulators (Crimson Skies, MechWarrior), First person shooters (Unreal Combat 2003, Medal Of Honor, etc.)

Platformers are my least favorite - I usually get into the game and can't get past a given point because of some wildly difficult timing that must be done...

Wow. All but one person has said RPG's. I didn't realize they were still so popular. I mean, I like them, but I usually feel like I'm part of a dying breed.

I like platform, strategy, some RPG's.. I like a variety of game types but I"m not into racing or war/shooting games. I guess I like more of an adventure type game, clearing levels and progressing on in the game.
