Saw it, loved it, hope the DVD has the bits that seemed to be obviously missing . The story jumps through time and I think they hacked scenes that clarify things in the name of time. I wouldn't be suprised if the DVD version was nearly three hours long.

I would have liked to see two or three movies fleshing out the characters....

I think that there is a real good chance of this happening.

I saw it, and i have to admit i was greatly impressed. I went into this movie with the lowest expectations imaginable, you know the usual stuff - black and white so it must be crap, etc

But i came out thinking it was an awesome film, he slight,i think that the selected use of colour throughout was a great artistic tool, and made the experience even more enjoyable. It really was very true to the comics too!

I'd make the argument that movies that experiment with black & white are usually better for it. Film Noir is terribly underrated. ;D

Anyone know how many books the different stories are spread across? I'm interesting in checking them out, but know next-to-nothing about them.

I utterly loathed and despised this film.
Technically it is a marvel, and it reproduces the comic books frame for frame. But I never particularly liked the comics either.
I enjoy a lot of Ultraviolence, but when the people dishing out the violence are all amoral soulless damaged sociopaths I get a little turned off.
This was a nasty nasty little film that revelled in it's violence for violence sake.
