I definitely practice my question. First thing you want to do is write your question out on paper, so that your grammar and structure is of an intelligent sounding nature. Then practice a few times, so you don't get caught up on any word used. Keep in mind, you don't want it sounding completely like you're reading (which mine did a little), so what you want to do is improve a little through-out the question to give it a more raw random feel.
A good mic helps. Strangely enough, I work at a piano store and used a digital piano to record. They have a standard mid-grade recording mic here, which I plugged into the digital piano and streamed my record. It sounded pretty good.
This topic is so funny..I think I know who you are because I remember one audio question that sounded a bit too sultry in the beginning for a guy. But it's totally cool...don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the question you asked, and you seem like a cool guy.
