Building Stats

Okay, here's a new topic we can talk about, various stats. This is from the "create a building" screen in Spore. If you look at the upper right corner you can almost make out what they say:



The bottom left one definitely says "Entertainment", and I think the lower right says "Housing" and the upper left says "Factory", but I'm not quite sure. What do you guys think?

Might be seperate building types for ur creatures and ur evolution.

I remember u said in Podcast 3 that Will said that keeping ur creatures happy is important so enternaiment might be like movie theatres, Strip Clubs ::) :P(just kiding), Playgrounds, and such

Factories, well You did say that their won't be much resources like rts have, maybe this is how you make money and keep unemployment at its mininum.

Houses, Maybe like mansions and apartments and stuff where u creature pay rent on them and gain u money, or just adds to a population limit?

I think you're right.  The top right one looks like it's in arabic though... i can't make it out either.

top right looks like "Farm" to me

kinda makes sense, have factory for the tanks and weapons
                           farms for food, and maybe other supply
                           houses for living in
                           and entertainment for culture

After messing with it in Paint shop pro, I'm also pretty sure it says "farm".

If the cities can be attacked, the buildings must have some kind of hit points, or a generic method of being destroyed. I wonder if they'll have weapons like vehicles do, too. I wonder how capasities for each of the buildings will be calculated.

Factories might produce vechiles for war.

I am woundering how walls will work. Maybe defensive towers.

As far as we saw in the game, all the cities were surrounded by a wall - probably so that Will doesn't have to worry about pathing inside cities. These walls provided a defensive barrier which stopped about half of the shots lobbed into the city. The buildings didn't seem to have many hit points (or maybe the tanks were very powerful) - only about three direct hits wiped out a building.

The walls did not appear to have hit points, instead appearing invulnerable.

It's not clear whether these walls were automatic or player-built. Steve, do you remember if the alien planet city had walls? I know the alternate culture city did.

Wow, good question. Hum, I think it had walls, I seem to remember that it looked similar, but not quite the same as the industrial city. I also remember that during the combat the tanks were hitting both the walls and that building and that when Will went back to his city after combat the building was gone but I don't remember if the wall had a hole in it or not. If anything I would say that the combat is either rather simple in Spore, or that it wasn't complete. If I had to guess I would say that it wasn't complete and things like building damage weren't programmed into the game yet.

How did that whole combat end?  It seemed like his peaceful people were being slaughtered and then he zoomed out into space and was in charge of his ufo.  Did he just fastforward or did it show him taking over the planet.  Got a little lost in that part of the review.  -leeman

I remember clearly the wall didn't go down, because I was watching carefully.
