This level definitely looks better than the casino level. But I dunno... are the characters too small or are the environments too big? What's going on here? The part at around 1:00 in the video really stuck out to me. Besides being dark, that area doesn't look too challenging. In fact, any challenge is derived from the player attempting to do it quickly, rather than just walking it. And you can clearly see the path in the distant, unlit areas so why even bother with the glow thing? And then even if you walk it, it is so big and you are so small that it's going to take a long time to just get from here to there with minimal challenge.

But hey, let's spend the next week talking about the ice key instead. ICE KEY!!

Maybe you're just overanalyzing it, it's just a kids' platform game which is pretty hard to mess up (I think?) and the guys who made it seem to have a lot of good experience under their belts, so I'm sure it'll still be pretty fun :) Did you pre-order it?

I don't mean to be a jerk or otherwise sound condescending, but you're very very wrong. It isn't hard to mess up a platformer.

And I probably am over-analyzing it, but again, they sold this game based on a certain pedigree (which happened to be one of the best), so I'm going to look at it with a critical eye. I didn't pre-order it because I didn't necessarily have faith that the old Rare team could still make a great game . I want them to, but I wasn't going to hold my breath. I expect a game that is about equal to or better than Banjo-Kazooie. Right now I don't see that. But I need more data!

Also, I disagree that this is a kids game, or that the game being a kids game would excuse any bad design choices. This game was very clearly marketed to people that loved Rare's old Nintendo 64 games who are now adults.

If it was hard to mess up this type of game they would churn them out still like fos shooters. That ice world gives me some hope. Fingers crossed

I get where you're coming from Pat. It might be that I didn't grow up with Banjo-Kazooie so I don't see the same problems that you do. I hope it'll be good :)

Hub worlds looks nice. Very Banjo-Tooie. "Tropics" looks pretty solid. "Glacier" is still kinda lame. :3

First off, Destiny has been getting involved in stupid Drama since his SC2 days in 2012.

The video you posted doesn't exactly say what JonTron said that was controversial, though I will admit I got pissed off by its biased presentation and stopped watching halfway through. It makes it seem like "oh, he has different opinions, so now the industry is blacklisting him and the inept media want him dead" (as an aside, that bit about secret/not secret racism is stupid. The articles were by different authors. There is no completely unified media hivemind coordinating all this). I am completely OK with a company deciding they don't want to work with someone who doesn't fit their moral viewpoints. That's their call. And also ethno-nationalism in the US is stupid. I'd get into this but this thread isn't the place. Too late I got into it below.

**** JonTron. He can go work for an anti-immigrant gaming company.

Here's the actual Destiny interview thing. Listening to it now, JonTron is also an idiot. He can't seem to put two and two together and see the link between systematic oppression of minorities (specifically black people) and high rates of crime in majority black areas.

https://youtu.be/6RQA9GZprqM?t=142

edit: JonTron: "I'm just saying, like, you can't make the argument that whites should be ok with them being a minori- becoming a minority in the countries that their ancestors built, if it doesn't apply to other countries."

- What's wrong with white people becoming a minority? Who gives a ****?

Man if you (the metaphorical/general 'you', not you in particular) listen to this interview and find yourself agreeing with JonTron...I don't even know.

edit 2: He's now upset by white displacement. Ok, so white people have had massive advantages in society compared to people of other races for centuries. So, when other people start doing better, and white people start to lose some of those benefits, it's "white genocide" or "white displacement." Oh man this guy.

Oh and now he's saying that European colonization of Africa was a non-complicated good thing. Ok sure.

edit 3: Hahahahah he says that the court system in America isn't racist. This dude.

edit 4: Oh man this dude is saying Mexicans are coming to this country because we have better welfare.

edit 5: Hah, he thinks the main opposition to abortion in Europe is apparently because of Muslims. Ireland has their ban because of Catholicism, and Poland nearly pushed a law through Parliament mainly because of Catholic anti-abortion groups.

Edited my original post one more time just to clarify, and will post here just to make sure

When I said "if you listen to this interview..." I didn't mean to call you out in particular Pat (or other people). It was a more general, kinda airy type of "you."

Aw man this jew safari isn't about what JonTron said, you goober. That was last week's jew safari!!

This video is about the dumb response from Playtonic and Team17. If people want their money back, they should be able to get their money back. I'm sure there are actually people dumb enough to want to back a game because some sperglord is doing a gibberish voice in it.

Also, good on you for sitting down and watching the stream though. It was exciting and fun. Now you gotta finish Metokur's video, because it sounds like you closed it before he got to his actual point and ended up wasting a lot of ink lolol

But your point is well taken, I get what you mean.
