Welp.

Colbert schooled me.

Neat lightsaber.
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

Fun is a buzzword.

That lightsaber is even dumber than the double bladed one. It's like they said "how can we one-up the two lightsabers stuck together?" and the legitimate, serious, best answer they could come up with was THREE lightsabers stuck together.

IT'S GOING TO BE SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
Not a winner anymore.

If they want to make it about lightsabers again they should spend their time talking about different techniques and crap like that. They could show how different schools fight and it could be neat. A bit more nuanced.

Anyway I am still skeptical because the goddamn Skywalkers are in the movie. If they have a small role I will be happy.

I read a bit of speculation about the lightsaber.  Or maybe it was just me and Neo making things up.  Anyway, the idea was that the the saber is actually supposed to be a bit crap.  Notice how much the blades flicker and flare, probably more than could be explained by the snow.  One idea was that it's an ancient lightsaber with a design that fell out of style.  Another ties into the whole Force Awakens thing.  This guy came into the Dark Side on his own and has no formal training or mentor, maybe just some lore he dug up.  So his saber looks like that because he doesn't really know what he's doing, only that it looks cool.
Probably not a Goat, either.

And the most important thing to remember is that this trailer is the very definition of a teaser trailer.  A few brief glimpses that tell us nothing and get us all worked up.
Probably not a Goat, either.

Just stop talking about it. Jesus Christ, you people are so god damn predictable.

Don't you see that the exact reason they put the lightsaber in the teaser was to make all the nerdlingers argue about it, thus ensuring the film gets talked about?

You're basically unpaid marketing stooges for Lucasfilm, congrats.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

After how objectively bad the last three "new" Star Wars movies are, I think fans are entitled to some skepticism.

Skepticism of a laser sword?

I'm not defending or criticising the actual movie here, I'm just pointing out that all this lightsaber crossguard fanwank is playing right into the hands of the people marketing the movie.

you people are so god damn predictable.
What do you mean you people?

That doesn't mean it's not worth talking about... especially since i'd imagine some of us have a real interest in seeing this turn out good.

YEAH! Erops gets it.

We'll all be united in the future when we've realized that a laser hilt inadvertently destroyed the future. BUT SAM LET IT HAPPEN BY STIFLING FREE SPEECH.

It's so obvious now. Sam was a anti-GG shill the whole time!!
