Well, it doesn't mean it can't happen, right?

I mean, if this thing can really produce 3x our used energy if fully installed, it would still cut that energy use in half if used on 1/6 of all the pavement. And if we combine that with the rooftops and sides of roads and sides of buildings, you never know, this could be really helpful.

When imagining some future plan or scenario, it's best to imagine what would be required to reach that point, as well as just its pros and cons. For one, keep in mind that the video claims these panels could produce 3x the energy consumption of the US if installed on every road. Everything from dirty trails in the middle of nowhere, to extremely busy and often congested highways in built up metropolitan areas. Just imagine the logistics of rebuilding all of those roads. Hell, imagine the logistics of rebuilding a third of those roads, or a sixth.
No way dude, you're trolling me.

I am telling ya its all about highway wind farms. ;)

To be honest, that seems pretty smart too.

Well, one six of all those roads done over a long period of time (30, 40 years?) could definitely provide a LOT of clean energy and even when they're still in development, every bit counts.

Considering how length of construction (and the price tag) of the Big Dig, converting 1/6th of US's 4 million+ miles of roads in just 30-40 years seems pretty ambitious. I mean, we're not talking just repaving all these roads. They need to redo the entire road bed, replace entire electrical systems to replace pole, and some how deal with thing like water run off and drainage with all that stuff right below the road way. Also, how would it fair against things like flood, earthquakes, blizzards, etc.

Yeah, I don't really get why they combine something as ambitious as replacing all the roads with also replacing power cables and phone lines and stuff.

I don't get why they do this stuff for roof shingles en masse...
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

Yeah! My bedroom's in the attic, so it can get pretty warm here during the summer. I figure putting solar panels on the roof would help with keeping it a little bit cooler, while also generating electricity.
But trying to convince my parents is a bit difficult for some reason. My mom's mainly worried about whether it'll look ugly or not :/

Your mom seems like a very pragmatic and stereotype-defying woman.

To be fair, Massachusetts public works are pretty appalling in general.  And that's before you factor in that Boston roadways are a non-euclidean nightmare which resist all attempts at navigation and sanity.

Most of that time and money goes to the wizards and madmen keeping the elder things at bay.

Speaking of, how well do these tiles hold up against Shoggoths?
Nefarious?  Nearly.  Ne’er-do-well?  Never!  Neither nearly names this narrator.  Naive and knowledgeable, notorious and inscrutable, this nascent Nero is known naturally as Neoadept.

God, I've been seeing people talking about these damn solar roadways for weeks now like they're going to revolutionize the world.  It's nice to finally have people other than myself question how the heck anyone's going to pay to install/maintain these things.

Now we've established that Slinky's plan is garbage lets move on to my superior idea for infinite clean energy.

Mine solves two problems in one fell swoop.

Burning fat people for warmth. I don't think the plan needs any further explanation.
