Uh, I think it looks fine. What's the problem?

Also, that main character has a really nice name. So cool. Beautiful, really.
No way dude, you're trolling me.

I think the painfully generic plot would be the problem.

Yeah, but at the same time its clearly a parody of those sorts of movies.

I don't actually expect the movie to be something I would particularly like, but I respect the choices they made for it.
Sam is basically right, he's just cranky.

Hey, Wonder Woman finally made it into a movie!
Probably not a Goat, either.

I just finished watching the movie.

*sigh*

All I can say is...

EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!

Really. For a while, I thought it was just gonna be like every other [insert] Movie TM, but man did that expectation get blown to a trillion tiny bits and carried away by the wind.

The IP characters aren't used excessively and I got the feeling that they actually added immersion as well as gave legitimacy to the idea that this was a world populated by toys, that the IP characters are just as much toys as Unikitty, or Benny, or Vitruvius. Lucy even mentioned stuff like Bionicle TM!

And after that part where it's revealed that the Lego Universe was just a giant set in the basement and the story was about a kid [Emmet] having issues with his dad [Lord Business] and then the dad sees all the wonderful things his son made and he has an "Oh crap! What have I done?!" moment and then they reconcile, and Lord Business himself accept Emmet's friendship and uses the Piece of Resistance to personally seal the Kragle...

Dang, I'm already tearing up while typing that.  :'(

The part where the cast was sitting in the doubledecker couch and then the little sister's Duplo blocks declare their campaign of destruction was the stuff of nightmares, though.  >_>

PS. Unikitty is best Lego pony!  [,^ _ ^,]

Visually it looks nice, but the trailer wasn't laugh-out-loud funny. And the plot has been recycled to death (normal guy chosen to save the world from destruction....again).

Well looks like your first mistake was taking the film to seriously to begin with.

Secondly, you missed the whole message of the film entirely, which I thought had a great impact on creativity alone. I remember always being frustrated as a kid how the instruction books for any LEGO set always had sample images on the back of alternative things you could make with the set, but they never gave instructions on those. Thinking back, now I see why they don't. Because they want you to use your own creativity and imagination to figure out how, or make something else entirely. Sure, save the world is a recycled plot, but it becomes clear there was another message intertwined in between, and in such an appropriate manner without turning the movie into just one big obvious ad to get you to buy LEGO sets.

For that I felt the movie did solidly on quality. Not legendary, but solid.

Yeah, I mean, it's just fiction, right? And it was fun, and impressive, and that was pretty cool.

No, but, like most of the others he'll probably be gone in like a day.
