Guess what? I was online and jumped in line for passes. I waited an hour and 15 mins but I got two sets of 4 (single) day passes. Guess this means I'm going. :)

oh and yeah, the 4 day pass sold out quickly.

No an HOUR and 15 mins. I was in line at 1:50 est. Took forever. The twitter says there are 1600 people in the queue and 15,000 tickets so your chances are good. Don't close the page and if it times out just refresh once and you'll still be in the same place in line.

Edit: I did not get a 4 day pass but 4 single day passes. I got two each in case Ovi goes with me.

Ok i was going to flip my lid. Only took me 2 hours and 15 mins to get mine. I didn't get a Sunday pass, because i'm usually dead by then anyway, but got the other 3 days.

Hooray for Midwest!

Too far from the east coast for east coast things, too far from the west coast for west coast things, and nothing ever comes in the middle.

Except for Google Fiber, we got that.

Have fun though these always look like they'd be really cool.

Day 1 Report:

I had two goals today: 1) Play on the PS4. 2) Play on XBO. Both goals were met. On the PS4 I played Warframe and Drive Club (I played these games because I only had to wait 5 mins to hop on) Warframe sucked in a generic way. It wasn't bad it was just a generic 3rd person shooter. Drive Club felt like a nice arcade racer. The PS4 controller felt small compared to the 360 controller but it still felt like good controller, a step up form the PS3. I didn't realize that the touch pad was a clickable button, which was cool, but felt kinda flimsy. Also, the touch pad curved over the back of the controller but wasn't flush with the back. It felt like I could get my finders under there and rip it off like a scab if i wanted to. I kept wanting to pick at it. Other then that, the touch pad felt very nice and responsive but I do think it will be the first thing to break on it.

When I was playing Drive Club they had the PS4 camera attached, holy moly that thing is tiny. I swear it's the same size as a pack of Starburst.

I played Ryse, looked good, but I'm not to big on brawlers. XBO controller felt nice, the only thing I noticed that the grips seemed to have slightly flatter edges compared to the 360. Didn't feel any rumble triggers, but felt like a great controller.

Played WindForge It's like Terraria with Airships. Only seemed ok.

Played Super Time Force again, still looking forward to it. Last year I thought it felt to easy, this year's build was more challenging. So hurray for that.

Played a Pathfinder Card Game It seemed more complex that it needed to be and kinda meh'.

Played the New Earth Defense Force, god that is still a stupid fun game.

Biggest line award goes to Titan Fall.

They aren't showing the game, the only thing they had was a poster you can stick your head through and take a picture.

I've heard the press is losing their marbles over Witcher 3. Is it there and can you get a look at it?

I don't think it's at the show, or I just haven't seen it.

Day 2 Report

Met up with LadyM and Ovi. We went and played Borderlands 2 and had to kill some boss. Our time was around 5:40, and we were the top 7 spot. We then went and played Rome: Total War. There were two maps to choose from, LadyM and myself chose the forest map and both ended up getting slaughtered. Ovi Played the other map with boats in it and killed all the bad dudes.

Played Loco Cycle on the XBO, fun and silly, felt very much like a Twisted Pixel game. But I got a raffle ticket and later in the day ended up winning a signed copy of Gun Slinger, so free stuff for me!

Played OctoDad on the PS4. A silly game.

I got to try out the Oculus Rift with some game that was described as an Exploitive Non-Combative MMO. Basically you walked/flew around some island for awhile. It didn't seem much of a "game" but it was a nice demo for the Oculus Rift. It was supper cool and very impressive tech. On the down side I had to take off my glasses, but luckily I'm near sighted, also you can see all the pixels, so even if you were playing a graphical power house of a game, you will still know you're in a game. Regardless I totally want one.

I then Played a DnD Next campaign where there were 5 different parties all playing part of the same quest. We all had our own DMs but there was one MEGA-DM who would tell us what was happening in the world. Each party had to protect a tower from creatures attacking it, and then there was also a dragon would fly from tower to tower. When the dragon came to our table there as a barbarian hanging from it's tale, so that played had to come sit at our table and play with us a bit. It was a cool concept and fun.

I play mainly 4th right now, and my one complaint is that it's very combat focus and combat takes a long time. Next feels more Role play-ie but I do miss the awesome powers of 4th.

Psh, awesome powers my eye!

Vortex of Ultimate Doom
Daily
Close Burst 5
Minor Action
Int vs Will

All creatures in burst take 2d6+Cha Damage and shift two squares. If target creature takes 10 damage save vs will or turn into a bandicoot permanently.

There was this one crazy campaign I was running where the players found this goblet that allowed the user to create one power with literally whatever traits they want. This one dude created a power called something along the lines of "**** Yeah Dr. Magic Missile McBatman", and when you said the name, the power did something like this:

**** Yeah Dr. Magic Missile McBatman
Encounter
Free Action

This form of magic missile always hits every enemy you choose, destroys them instantly, and grants you HP equal to yours plus the sum of all of theirs.

It wasn't a very serious campaign so I let him do that, although it kind of screwed up the balance of the game.

PAX Day 3 Report:

I spent most of my day just wandering around, hopping on little games and hoping to win an XBO. There are only a couple games of note.

Peggle 2: Pat I played Peggle 2, it totally has Peggles in it, you should be jealous.

Lords of Waterdeep: A Euro type economy game with a DnD skin for good measure. Totally had a blast with this game. Basically each player runs and inn, each inn tries to complete missions buy getting enough adventures together (wizards, clerics, rouges, and fighters in wooden cube form) and then collecting victory points for doing so.

Spy Party: I've seen this game at the last 2/3 PAXs and I finally got around to play it. Basically one player is a spy at a party trying to do sneaky spy stuff, the other player is a sniper trying to figure out who the spy is and shoot him/her before time runs out. It's easier to be a spy, I was able to to all four of my objectives and the sniper only suspected me for a little bit. As a sniper it's not easy to figure out who the spy is and I ended up shooting the wrong person very early into the game. I asked a guy when it was going to come out, and he said, "When it's ready." So I expect it to be at a few more PAXs. Will get when it finally comes out.

Later this week I will continue the tradition of giving away beta codes and other such things that i collected at PAX, including League of Legends codes. Keep an eye out for that thread!

Our PAX weekend was pretty awesome. Seattle is a nice city, great coffee and good food. Everything is kind of blur now but we bought t-shirts and pins, played the next DLC for Borderlands 2, attended some great panels like Gearbox and a really funny Improv show. I'll just show some photos.

Santa, me and Ovi

We (Santa, Ovi and I) made the leader board on the Borderlands 2 DLC play test. We are the Gaming Steve team near the bottom.

Seattle waterfront. We ate a fabulous dinner there and rode the Observation Wheel.

Btw Inkling, we are talking about going to PlayonCon next year in Alabama, maybe you could meet us there?

The Parthenon is a pretty neat place.  It's also like three hours from Birmingham.

Honestly, I don't know what state I'll be living in two months from now, much less in a year.  Likely locations put me between three and ten hours away from PlayonCon.  So we'll have to wait and see.

I am also obligated to point out that Alabama sucks.
Probably not a Goat, either.

I know it does. Not my favorite place. Would you prefer to meet us at DisneyWorld? That could be arranged too. :)

I wish I could meet up with y'all, but the age gap would be disorienting and how would I get there anyway?
