Dark Souls 2
« on: December 10, 2012, 10:09:20 pm »
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-dcwB3qTMA" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-dcwB3qTMA</a>

It was announced, :D

very little info is out right now, but suffice to say, they are changing the multiplayer to a server based type (most likely for better pvp and grouping) as well as original director,  Miyazaki is not directing it, but is a supervisor

I have the first one, but keep not playing it because i don't have a wired xbox controller that I can use. I played with keyboard for a while but it was just infuriating. 'twas still fun but.....yeah.

Anyway, looking forward to this.

Man I loved dark souls. But their are two trigger words that put me on watch mode. Those words are streamlined and accessible (PR talk for dumbing down) I've heard at least one of those words about dark souls 2 already. So Ill keep a very wary eye on it.

the new director wants to make the story more streamlined whereas in darksouls the story was yours to piece together through items you found and the small bits of actual conversation you had with the few npcs in the game

he said more accessible but I think he was talking about more along the lines of actually telling you what the hell stuff does in the game, because to be quite frank half of the hard part of the game is understanding what everything does since the basic tutorial really doesn't cover much and leaves everything up to you to figure out

I like that. That's a whole characteristic that sets the game apart. I hope they don't do that.
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

I agree wholeheartedly, the original director is staying on to give guidance so hopefully they don't stray too far from the original (to be fair I would like a little better direction on where the hell to go at times)

Eh....I think the first time playing a souls game is a special experience that you can't really repeat again. Still fun game.

Yo, this is the only thread that has anything to do with the souls games.

So since there's a lot of press about Bloodborne recently, I decided to give Dark Souls a try. I can see why people like it, but... no pausing? Really? Really? REALLY? It infuriates me to no end that this game is essentially ruined for me because it lacks a feature as basic and essential as game saves or start screens. I cannot play this game in my house, where I frequently have to get a door or let a dog outside or something. It's extremely disappointing because I do enjoy the game, but the lack of an inability to pause brings me more frustration than any real difficulty in the game.

Sorry, had to rant a bit.
No way dude, you're trolling me.

I like no pause; if you could pause during big boss fights or unexpected encounters it would take from the tension the game goes for.

Surely you can play the game, just take a few seconds to run to a safe (clear) area to do whatever, you just have to play with it in mind like any other online game.

yeah, enemies don't wander around a lot.
just go to a safe spot or a place you already cleared, you should be fine.
also, sitting at a bonfire is 100% safe.
