The survivors of the Mimic's stealth rampage gathered in the mansion's living room. After some complaining the city guardsman was untied and allowed to join the others. The wind howled behind shutters closed for half a decade, and bats flapped and squeaked on the oak-beamed ceiling.

"...causing him to regurgitate his own lungs." Sergeant Z'drell finished a cheerful anecdote of his career as a Scourge in his home city.

"Hey, I think the storm has died down enough now." said one of the mercenaries, peering over the windowpane.

"This isn't the anthromorphic mimicamacule at all." said one, tapping the glass with his staff. "Urist, check pen H would you."

"It's empty sir" said the burly college porter, returning from his errand.

"Ah, its more cunning than we thought. The Anthrmorph released another mimic to lay a false trail. Which of course means that the real monster in that mansion was..."

"Us." groaned the entire party, in unison.

"Well, haven't we all learned something important today?" spat Z'drell. "Pay these wretches their reward so we can all put this farcical ordeal behind us."

And so they did.

500 gp to be split between the party however they like. Z'drell cares not for your chump change.
