Oh man, the Queen looked so cranky through the whole thing. I think it was well past her bedtime.

The independant athletes were great.

I hope they win something.

The entire bit with the extremely photogenic multicultural yoof losing their phones was just dire.
"Oh, she lost her phone. Better call her to tell her that."

Fun fact: She answered.

HOW DOES THIS WORK

Yes, I noticed that too.

I can only assume its because kids these days all have two mobile phones.

On a munch better note, did anyone notice that when the nations athletes were all walking out, as soon as Fiji came on they started playing "Staying Alive" by the Bee Gees?

I'm fairly certain it was intentional as well, since all the songs were usually played out in full, except the one immediately preceding the Bee Gees (IIRC it was Rolling in the Deep) which was cut off as soon as Fiji walked out of the tunnel and onto the track.

So Women's Weightlifting was all "Yeah we could win! We just need to try hard and we could outdo everyone!". Then China shows up and "BOOM GOLD I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE WHAT IS PAIN?".

I'm sensing a pattern here.

I love that they're showing archery live on tv.  I wish all the air time didn't go to basketball and soccer, I want to watch the more obscure stuff.

The Fencing is on, so that's pretty good. Korea's tearing it up right now.

EDIT: Past me is dumb.

I watched the Opening Ceremony in the most dignified of places - barefoot in a fountain. We missed most of the first hour because of food and getting distracted by buskers.

So GBR won three gold medals in the athletics yesterday.

Despite my own skepticism and that of many others in the runup to the olympics I have to say this is turning out pretty well.

The stadium was finished on time, the opening ceremony was only slightly embarrassing, and britain is doing better than anybody could have expected.

U mad bronzefags?
