GURPS, Munchkin and Fudge
« on: November 30, 2011, 10:23:52 pm »
So recently I have been looking into other rpg systems beyond the familiar D&D d20 stuff and re-discovered GURPS and Fudge. I have already heard good things about alternative rping like Munchkin, but never actually played with any of these systems.

My question is has anyone played table top rpgs that were not based on D&D or D20 rules?

I personally have been leaning towards trying out the Fudge system.

What are your guys experiences?

I played a Dark Heresy game once, and my brothers and I love Munchkin. I'd try the Fudge system.

Munchkin is not 'alternative rping'. Its a fun-ass card game that happens to be inspired by rpgs, but there is no roleplay element :P

I was under the impression you could play Munchkin 3 ways, Cards, Board Game or RPG.

Note I have only seen the RPG version from a friend who had it. But we did not play it at the time.

This is complete fact that I 105% support.

Ah. The RPG must be fairly new. I only ever played the card game and the board game.

Maybe not when you play it.  I find it's a ton more fun if you get into it a bit.  It's light RP, but you can RP nontheless.

I have GURPS, but I mainly use it for world-building. I also have Paranoia, but I have yet to run a game. I am starting to run a game of Mongoose Traveller, but I'm stuck with my mum's tiny notebook as I only have it on pdf, which means the 14-year old, 11-year old and two 9-year olds I'm palying with don't have their own rules in front of them. We've done character creation, but I'm stuck for a first mission.
