The DL worked for me, I'm tinkering with it now. Might want to try again or use a different browser (I used Chrome)

Almost had orbit, clipped the atmosphere on the way back around. Instant lawndart.

I use Chrome as well, and I've downloaded it 3 times. Found an older thread and I'm using the download link prescribed in aforementioned thread. Hope it works, it's gonna be finishing up any second now.

Union rules.

BTW those of you having trouble, launch the application and then give it several minutes, it seems to be REALLY slow when you first use it.

EDIT:

Actually looking at the 'default' graphics settings, you might want to turn them down and see what happens. AA is defaulted to 2x

I achieved Orbit!

That is just after the lowest point of the Orbit. I took it because you can see the launchpad, on the off color green patch right on the shore.

The orbit goes from roughly 39,000 meters and 2400 m/s to 170,000m and 2030m/s in about 34 minutes.

It was done in the Wiz Four!

Pity the souls who flew on Wiz One through Three.

My son and I have tinkering with this almost all day (The wife would be mad, but it was a day of science and learning... never mind the endless laughter from exploding rockets, it is part of the learning process). We started with the stock game and went for highest altitude, a contest my son son only because the monstrosity that he made held together once out of four attempts. He had figured out the re-sequencing of the space-bar commands before I had and was getting some insane initial launch speeds.

The second contest was 'farther horizontal travel while staying below 10,000 meters'. I walked away with that one since my son had become too dependent on the SAS units.

Then we went for orbit. My son did it in something like Mr. Wizards rocket. Mine solution was a much simpler design, capsule, four fuel tanks and a rocket engine. The initial launch being with four solid boosters helping. The first launch being a total failure because I had put parachutes on the boosters and my son rigged them to fire when I did the initial launch while I was in the bathroom.

After that we grabbed four mod packs, SIDR_Parts, Saturn_V_Parts_Pack_v1.0, Sunday Punch's KSP parts v 1_09 and podreplaceer_1. That got us going on all kinds of things, including the screenshot above where the crew is on its way to the Underverse.

This really has me in the mood to play Buzz Aldrin's Race For Space, a board game that had a mediocre computer version made many many many years ago.

EDIT: Glad to see I'm not the only one stranding crews in space with parachute BTW.

I made a rocket with standard parts. 3 fuel segments, One Engine and The module for the crew of course. It reach escape velocity.

(Screw the union! There not coming back so they do not need a parachute)

It was not my first rocket to reach escape velocity, but it was my simplest.

So far my rockets have either not taken off/blown up on the launch pad or they've gotten to about 3000 feet and turned toward the ground.

Reasons why NASA isn't for me.

21 hours in a stable orbit, then a landing.

First orbit, passing over the launch site.

20 hours later. OK, Time to go home. Spin round, burn the last of the fuel...

... jettison the rest of the rocket...

... and arrive home just over 21 hours after launch.

Mount an SAS unit on it and turn it on before launch (T).
