I've noticed that even in our 6+ years as a forum, nobody ever set up a Sports thread.
Because unless you want to make a spam thread (don't cramp my style, bro), you're not going to get much in the way of traffic. It also helps when a person that has shown a remote interest in sports in the past six years makes the thread. If someone like Ink had made this thread, I'd have been all in because I see him talk about sports at least once a week. You need to consider your own personal branding when making a topic. An overview of the sports teams in your local vicinity doesn't help me a ton. You're a comedy guy, Sgore! Stick to what you're good at. Because this topic, while being a joke, isn't one of your best.

But perhaps most-importantly, sports is hard to do on an international forum like this. Even people that are from the same country are so spread out that there's no real solidarity. You may get the Europeans supporting Football, but they're only usually doing that to throw it in the face of all the Americans that love American Football (and vice versa). The odds of me finding a Phillies fan and a Flyers fan on this forum is very slim. But I bet you I can find a whole mess of people that can tell me why those teams suck and why their local professional team is better. So that's a major point of discouragement for me to talk.
Anyway, that's my view on this topic. I do love sports and all of us tend to be a bit crazy about our Philadelphia teams. But unless someone wants to talk about that specific segment of the sports world, I can't really help you. And I'd wager this is true with almost all of us here.
