No, the US is a Republic. We have a popular vote, but this is not the mechanism that ultimately decides who wins. Meet our
Electoral College. It has resulted in several previous winning candidates being elected despite
losing the popular vote. Also, our Parties are called Democrats and Republicans, but that doesn't mean they represent the ideas of a Democracy and a Republic, its just a naming convention that goes back a long time. Republicans that point this out aren't spouting propaganda, they're just ignorant.
