Well 2 would be a stupid choice, and 3 doesn't seem like a great idea either. Pick 1 and head for the bridge where all the coolest officers hang out.

And the captain who doesn't particularly like us...
In space, no one can hear you scream unless your transmitting it on the right radio frequency.

Yeah, the bridge! That's the where commanders belong, like you!

So you make your way up to the bridge. There you see the Captain, and Stuart, looking attentively at the radar and observation screens on in front of them.

A voice speaks out of the terminal in front of you:

"We're within Radar range, Cleveland."

"Roger, beggining our advance now." ansered van Der Waals, back into the terminal. He then wiped his brow, and spoke into the intercom. "All hands to battlestations. Fighters prep for immediate launch on my order."

A siren blared overhead, and Van Der Waals turns back to you and Stuart.

"Stuart, get down to the Gunnery Command and make sure they're on target. We can expect Savarien interceptors, if our intel is correct."

Stuart snapped to attention, with an affirmative "Yes Sir" and ran off down the hallway. Van Der Waals then turns to you.

"I'm assuming you can fly a ship, Kirkland?"

"Yes sir."

"Good. You're in command of the flight team. I'm going to be in contact with Command, so I'm giving you control of the flight. Stick to the battle plan and you'll do fine."

You're suprised with this sudden trust and seniority, but are thankful none-the-less. You snap to salute and scurry off to the flight control.

You take a seat in behind the main flight team - those who take care of the technical aspects of navigation.

The battle is about to commence, you see dots all over the radar screen representing UN ships. Some vague spots which you assume are defence stations are off in the distance, but are defended by a clear astroid belt.

Your orders are to escort the carrier, and the carrier appears to be moving forward. What's the plan?

1) Stay Close - If I stray too far from the carrier, I could get picked off.
2) Keep Ahead - I should clear the way ahead of potential interceptors, otherwise I risk getting the carrier hit.
3) Maintain Current Course - I'll just keep going where I'm going - no need to change direction, right?

We are to take down any enemy beamers or boarders, I would say 1 just for that reason but, we have yet to receive movement orders from the captain, so 3.

Yeah, keep going with 3, but if doing so will, I don't know, send you off into interstellar space, switch to 2. Although I'm sure the carrier can survive a few hits.
