The Mystery RP OOC
RP Topic

Welcome one and all to the Mystery RP! This is a new project for the RP section and a rebirth in the way we've done games in the past. It isn't original and has been done before, just not here. So what is the Mystery RP? I'll tell you! And rest assured, it's painfully simple. But you will need to be on the ball and a good writer. No idling out, you can be replaced very easily under this new system. The system that I will describe now.

For now the game has three players. We each roll a die to determine the order in which we post. From there, the first person begins the story. Then the second person posts. Then the third. And we return to the first person after that. Simple, right? Well here's the tricky part. We will all be playing every character. That means each one of us controls the protagonist, the antagonist, and everyone in between. No one person owns a single character and no one person has full control. We respond to whatever the person before us has written and continue their story. And that's it!

So, who's playing? Erops and Ovi have shown interest. And I'm definitely playing. I can accommodate a fourth person if you're really interested. And if people need to drop out, no big deal. With this system we're all easily replaceable! Ha ha ha!

Sure thing, man! And with that, we're good to go.

I'll go roll some dice and see who gets to go first. Be back in a flash!

**EDIT**
Okay I rolled the dice!

Keno got a 19
Ovi got a 10
Pat got a 2
Erops got a 1

How about that? Keno, we'll start with you. I'll post the topic in a second and we will begin the story whenever you're ready. :)

I'm pretty sure the cylinder was part of a trade TO him. And since the fuel rod was inadequate for whatever the next trip is, the deal fell through.

Mind if I pick at grammar?

It was inevitable, not as many people was as quick with a pistol...

In this sentence, "was" should be "were." Also, you seem to be switching between present and past tense. You need to pick one or the other. Since you did mostly past tense, I'll use that for my part, which I will begin writing now.

Ah yes!

For these games we typically write in the past tense using third-person limited omniscience. Keep it uniform, guys!

Ovi and I have the spelling and grammar OCD. Don't worry about it, he's not trying to cause harm. He just wants as perfect a product as we can render. Which is something we should all strive for! :D

Also, to clarify on my previous post, I'm not saying we have to ALWAYS write in this format or that format. What I'm saying is that whatever format we choose, we need to stick with it.

"Let's you and me take a walk, Mr. Sorran. You have something on board your ship that is of interest to me and the people I associate with."

They were headed deeper into the recesses in the station, the lights becoming dimmer and less consistent as they began making their way down stairs

Continuity error! Shouldn't they be headed to the ship?

He's got something on his ship that is of interest to her and the people she associates with. Even though you could say there are two subjects being mentioned, the one with priority is the first one mentioned. As well, it calls back to Kenotai's reference to whatever magic macguffin lies in wait within his suitcase. The clear focal point is the suitcase and whatever lurks within. Girly-face mentioning that she works with other people is merely added detail and potential foreshadowing. And since I was the one who wrote it, I can confirm the author's intent beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Plus, there was no mention of actually going to SEE associates and their presence on the station (to me) seems a little silly. Being able to play every character affords us the opportunity of using much larger set pieces. The idea of having the evil organization hanging out at the bottom of this station is too easy. My thoughts.

I strongly dislike the last post due to what I see as a continuity problem, but it is what it is. If you want to change it, go for it. Otherwise you're up to bat, Keno.

Eh, what can I say. I'm a sucker for some crime cliches. I mean, you're all welcome to change it as you please, as that's what we do, heh. They could all by pieces to something bigger.

I am going to stick by my post since knowing the full intentions of your guys posts makes it less mystery. Plus I sort of though it was a, pick up as you interpret it going.

Fire away kenotai.

Anyone out there? No responses to the OOC topic and no posts in the IC topic. What's the hold up?

Excuses tend to fall flat when you're online often and making posts elsewhere around the forum. Either post or don't. I made it explicitly clear that to play in this RP you needed to be on the ball. Let me know if I need to find new people. :-\

Fair enough.

That said, the people we do have need to post when they say they're going to post... not naming any names. :P

Yes yes yes.

I apologize, and there is no excuse sorry.

Also a lot of the time I'm online I'm usually on my phone, which does not really make for good long post writing material.

Anywho, I tried to leave it nice and open for Kenotai, I just set up more circumstance.

So i guess were just adding a second 'z' to our lizard friend then?

No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

You can nitpick on my once-a-year spelling mistakes once you start posting regularly. :P

I think I must have accidentally misspelled it and then put the misspelling into my dictionary, making me change all the other correct spellings.

But yeah, we'll go with a single Z because it saves ink. Or not. It doesn't matter... unless there are TWO of them!

Keno
Ovi
Pat
Erops

So, about that sweet spot you mentioned, Keno... :P

How do we feel about modifying the rules to allow us to pass over people who do not post within 12 hours?

12 hours is too short, and it doesn't make any sense anyway (post at eight in the evening for example). Two days is best, which I have already violates. I'll get one by this evening, and if I don't, skip me as the next available time would be Sunday.

Two days is too long and it justifies your current inactivity. :P

24 hours is the most I'll settle for.
