2d game engine
« on: December 05, 2010, 03:40:15 pm »
I'm looking for a good 2d game engine,
i stated learning C++, and got to the direct3d part for drawing sprites, and thats way to complex for me for right now, so I want to find an already coded engine,  I remember seeing someone post one, but I can't find it anywhere.

The closest that I know of is Gamemaker, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

From my own experience reacently, XNA is a great library for both 2d and 3d work.

The problem with the current XNA world (ie version 4) is that it is totally centered on Phones. Enough to the point that it is turning away people.

what i found, is called MMF2, or Multimedia Fusion 2. it's a nifty little program, very easy to make games with, uses a pseudo like codeing,
lots of point and click and drag and drop.
development is slow because i don't have a mouse half the time,
celdur doesn't think i'll have a playable game by Wednesday, but i'm already done with alot of the coding for movement and jumping and ladders,
still need to work on some of the animations and attacks and enemies and such.

MMF2 seems like good stuff. I think I tried it out but got bored.
I get bored easily.

Also, someone made this in MMF2. Pretty swert.

For some reason, I might try that tomorrow. I knew when I tried I believe a previous version of GameMaker, I was so darn CONFUSED. I didn't know what the heck I was doing!
Just another gamer, I'll be around... Maybe.
