So, there you have it, our little RP/Game. There are several roles to be filled. We need a:
.Captain
.Navigator
.Engineer
.Custodian
.Gunner
.Signaller
.Translator
.Lookout
Also, random crew members.

So, the three ship types work like this: All ships have base stats, which will be posted in the next part. Sloops are the smallest ships, Caravels are in the middle, and Monitors are the largest. Feel free to critique and start building your characters. Use this form:

How beholden are we to ship stats? Will the outcome of events be determined by probability or from a sort of narrative flow?

Well, ships will have base stats which will be used to determine how battles with other ships work. Everything else is narrative.

Each stat is between 1 and 10.

Sloop Base Stats:
Speed: 9 Agility: 8
Power: 4 Armor: 5

Caravel Base Stats:
Speed: 6 Agility: 6
Power: 5 Armor: 5

Monitor Base Stats:
Speed: 3 Agility: 2
Power: 8 Armor: 9

Well... wait...

What are those stats based on? What is the max? It all seems so very arbitrary and unnecessary. Plus, I'm the only one that has voiced interest in playing. Have you gone to other people and asked for their participation? They aren't all going to come to you.

If I recall correctly this is based on Flabe's pirate game. That game was more of an RPG than an RP so these stats probably determine when and how the players will get to the places they want to go to.

That's all well and good, but as of yet I have a face full of stats and no explanation whatsoever as to what they do and why they matter.

If I may, not to be crude, but I think a way of combat to be worked out may be better set in as how it's handled in the Spore RP section, than hard stats. Because hard stats are pretty inflexible and tend to end with "pro builds", and all other stats discarded, if they arent ballanced. And that ain't easy.
But that's my two cents.
I'm intersted in this, but I have a question:
Is this going to be able to have aircraft of some sort if the timeline allows, ala Crimson Skies?
(And before anyone's snarky, I mean OTHER than the airships.)

How is combat handed in the Spore RP section?

Well, We handle combat in an instance such as this, with large vehicles, we play it out as more of a "Which one has a better set of equipment/armour/weapons/ect vs. who has a better commander" instance, and roleplay out the battle as the commanders.

Oh okay.

And for some variety, I'll throw in our way of doing it. We usually treat the super weapons like pseudo-characters. Lots of personification and whatnot and the players on each side sort of "play" the weapons/vehicles/whatever.
