The Sorcerer's Apprentice
« on: July 30, 2010, 04:08:53 pm »
I saw this movie yesterday and, I have to say, it surprised me. It was well acted, interesting, and very enjoyable. Alfred Molina especially did well to make it a great viewing experience. I had a few complaints, of course, but the film itself was entertaining enough to make me not really care that much. I still mocked it relentlessly with my friends, but it didn't stop me from enjoying it.

Yeah, I thought it was good too. Cool effects but they could've added a lot more cool spells and things. The magic seems to diverse yet so limited. What was to stop them to, for example, telekinetically blast the oncoming garbage truck away, or freeze the quicksand-rug solid? Kind of a silly thing to pick on but that's what I was thinking.

Monica Bellucci makes a good evil sorceress too. All flailing about and stuff.
Yeah, [Kishmond] came back from Africa, but the ponies have him now.

Because terminal lack of creativity is the only thing that prevents most movies ending five minutes in.

Besides, if they'd just spent five minutes thinking and decided to take Balthazar's rings while he was pinned down to the Tesla Coil ring, he'd never have been able to escape. Or, for example, why not turn their car into a tank in the car chase scene? Or levitate the other car so it can't move? Or break its axles?

Or just kill Dave once he turned over the ring, for that matter?

So, yeah. You have to take this with a grain of salt.
