THANKYOU!
I was practically praying they weren't giving up on Spore as a series. I'm all for kicking the crack out of "darkspore", or whatever race they decide to make representative of that. They may just make it more themed against the Grox, a massive war or something. But good, they are trying again.

I'm widtholding judgement until I see some footage or get a better gameplay description than "Sci-Fi Action-RPG based on the DNA of Spore."
Probably not a Goat, either.

And need I remind everyone of the hype that screwed the first game.

With any luck it'll be even better than Mass Effect.

Sorry for delaying Episode 3 again.

Kinda makes me wonder if Maxis will be getting help from other EA studios, especially how their numbers dwindled since Will Wright left. I know it can be bad to have big teams in pre-production, but it'd be nice to have companies like BioWare to help.

Can any one say "C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!" 5 times fast? If they have that kind of production idea already, shouldn't it get done alot faster than the original Spore? Because they must have been trying to come up with the phases as they went along, from how long it took.

What really took much of Maxis' time with the first game was not so much the phases, but the editors and animation. Since it appears that Maxis already has the "engine" for DarkSpore, then yes, it would be faster. But I would prefer Maxis took their time with the gameplay as much as they can. That's the important part now.

That all looks like concept art to me, so don't get too excited yet, Grox.

Yeah, at this point they are still throwing a lot of ideas around, and what concept art/screenshots we get at this stage may not be in the final game.

According to this, the game will be unveiled Saturday the 24th 6-7pm. Looks like we've got about two weeks of speculation ahead of us.
