'One Drawing A Day' Challenge #4
« on: July 05, 2010, 03:50:25 pm »
Welcome to the 4th 'One Drawing A Day' Challenge.

OPTIONAL THEME
The long awaited and delayed Challenge #4 is here. You may chose to follow theme guidelines or deviate on your own. It's your choice. Listed below are a few suggested subjects you can undertake according to each day. There may be more than one badge involved, depending on how you participate.

This month's theme:

That's right. Those little animated constructs of flesh that move about the earth doing un-sentient things (with a slight exception of the last day, maybe.) However, don't limit yourself to drawing any mere run-of-the-mill (insert animal here.) Be creative and add various adjectives and verbs to any of the day's subjects. Innovate! Animals don't always have to behave like the smelly beasts that they are. Personality and emotion are a plus. But make something life-like every now and then if you like.

  • Day 1: (un)Favorite Animal Cartoon Character or Mascot
  • Day 2: Extinct Animal
  • Day 3: Crustacean
  • Day 4: Fish/Sharks
  • Day 5: Arachnid/Insect
  • Day 6: Snake/Lizard
  • Day 7: Duck
  • Day 8: Bull/Cow
  • Day 9: Kangaroo
  • Day 10: Koala
  • Day 11: Hippopotamus
  • Day 12: Turtle
  • Day 13: Rabbit
  • Day 14: Camel/Llama
  • Day 15: Octopus/Squid
  • Day 16: Hawk/Eagle
  • Day 17: Pig/Warthog
  • Day 18: Chicken
  • Day 19: Dolphin/Whale
  • Day 20: Horse
  • Day 21: Bear/Polar/Panda
  • Day 22: Lion/Tiger
  • Day 23: Rhino
  • Day 24: Giraffe
  • Day 25: Elephant
  • Day 26: Dog/Fox/Wolf
  • Day 27: Frog/Amphibian
  • Day 28: Monkey
  • Day 29: Gorilla
  • Day 30: Human

Challenge ends August 5th!

BADGES:

Zoological Badge, for drawing this month's theme.

OCD Badge, for completing the entire list in order.

Animal Badge, Aaagah aagah aagah aaaaagaah!

For those in need an explanation, let's go over everything.

What we want out of you is just one drawing each day for one month.

Post whatever you can come up with. That's your doodles, paintings, sketches. Whether you're using a mouse in paint, a pen tablet with photoshop, or a pencil-paper-scanner scheme. It's all good.
This challenge is all about practice and experience. That's invaluable, and it goes a long way.
Experiment, challenge yourself to draw something out of your league, entertain the forum with your artistic wit.

We do impose just a few rules however.
(1)Your drawings have to have been created recently for the challenge itself. So no old stuff.
(2)This is all for fun and practice! So please put some level of honest effort into your work. Scribbly junk is kinda frowned upon.
(3)Keep an eye on your file size before you post. If you can't make it much smaller or lose some of the image quality, post a thumbnail and link somewhere offsite for the full image.

Other guidelines--
You may be allowed to catch up if you miss a day or two, but don't disappear for too long.
Please try not to fall too far behind if you plan on doing a catch-up. If you think you'll have problems keeping up, just try to give yourself five minutes out of the day to draw something, anything.
Try to join in by at least the first week; it'll help you get used to the idea of doing this every day, and it'll make the later challenges much easier.
Those that do join in a little late may post a few drawings at once to catch yourself up to everyone else, one for each day you missed.

Otherwise, don't fret too much about it.
Basically just draw something up every day and show it off in this thread!

In one month (or thirty days after the challenge begins), we will conclude. All those who have completed the challenge can opt to use a neat little badge they can show off in their signature.
They will be posted here after the challenge is over.

We aim to keep the challenges rolling. When this one ends, the next one starts up.

No sign-up necessary. Start whenever you're ready.
Hop to it!

Credits to Flisch for the idea, conferring with GD and myself to come up with a solid method of bringing it to you guys.
I'm just the topic creator guy.  Kiss
Additional thanks to everyone who participated. Have fun, and good luck!

Skipped day one.

The sign says "Meeting Today: Extinction Support Group"

Being as it's only gone extinct within the last couple of centuries, the dodo bird is new to the club. It needs help dealing with its emotional state.

You're a good bit more amusing with your art than you may realize, Sam.

Also, here's my day 1. I threw some animal type things in there for the hell of it.
I'll draw more specific stuff later. This was kind of a warm up I guess.

DAY 5!

(All of these were made by Mouse with a dot at a time, Took 3 hours atleast)
(seems im the only one who seem to did Day 5 so far)

So at first i was like Ok i will make a insect and it will be a centipedi. I made somewhat kind of one in the corner.
After making it i went thinking of making a pixel deathstar,That failed so i made my own kind of deathstar that opens up and fires.
Then i got a idea of making ships and recreating the part of starwars whenre the ships at the deathstar.
Then i saw the picture on the page 1 and made me want to recreate him in pixels so i did. Not the best work i have ever done but it is quite good for me. ( I SUCK at making living things, and shading due to me being color diffusion)

:D Hope you all like!
