This is wierd.
« on: June 19, 2010, 01:17:34 pm »
The Spore DRM software limits on three seperate machines, then says that it can't launch. I have reached that limit, but the second computer it was installed on (chronologically speaking) is the one I'm trying it on, and it won't launch, but on the one Spore was installed on first, it will. Any ideas as to the problem? I'd ask EA, but their customer support is as about as worthwhile as a bed of nails.

Did you try blowing into the cartridge?

Do you even know what Spore is? It's a computer game. And it dosen't use a disc to play. There isn't anything to blow on.

Ok, srsly serious time.

http://www.spore.com/patch/deauthorization

Use this on the computers you do not use Spore on or the ones that aren't working/launching. Reinstall the game on them and they should run. Remember, if you want to install/reinstall Spore at any time, use the deauthorization tool first.

Also, if you still need more help, go to the Spore forums and ask for help. They will generally have the answers (or look up their older posts) and you might find a fix. They will usually have better results than than EA does.

Pirated software? Do you honestly think I'd make this much of a fuss if I hadn't poured $50 into this piece of crap? If I had pirated it, I'd just uninstall and re-torrent. Though, I do get the feeling this game isn't worth the de-authorization, given it's unlikely we'll ever get even a patch anymore (oh why, oh why, did you let this game die? Oh why, oh why, tell meeeee!), which is epic fail. I wanted at least a measly plant editor. But nooooOOOOoooo. EA has to be a whiny little **** and abandon the game. There's plenty of-wait, I'm starting to get off subject.

But seriously, do you think I'd make this big a deal if I hadn't sunk substantial money into it ($50 is substantial money to me, given I don't get any money)?

WTF? Sorry to double post, but when I try to run the de-authorization tool, it says that my computer has no active license to deauthorize. The fudge!?!
Edit: To help, I took some screen captures.

1) This comes up when attempting to launch Spore.

2)This comes up when running the deauthorizing tool as an administrator:

Wait. What do you mean Spore doesn't use a disc, it's a PC game, it's nothing BUT a disc!

Yeah, the Spore CD is only for installing the game, in essence. However, that stinkin Galactic Adventures does need the disc, which is why I can't play it anymore (I lost the disc somewhere, I have yet to find it. It's at home, I just don't know where).

Yeah. Honestly, some of the parts seemed like a waste. Not all of them mind you, but some of the more out there ones seemed to have a hard time fitting into any of my creatures. Of course, that could have just been my creatures, but still.
