Zelda : Skyward Sword

In before pat? He must be solving a mystery.

Quick link: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/06/15/the-legend-of-zelda-skyward-sword-revealed-and-detailed/

New Zelda game has been announced, coming next year, and will be using Wii Motion Plus. They were having some issues with demo during the press conference, felt bad for them, but it looks like a Zelda game. Anyone super excited about this? I'm kinda meh on it, but then again I haven't touched my wii for over a year now so that could be just me. The new whip, and flying bug thing look neat, but it just seems more of the same. I'm sure it will be still be fun.

What are your thoughts?

I don't like the graphics. Weird cross between Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks. I would like it to be more like Twilight Princess.

Controls seem kinda gimmicky, but could be okay if they worked well...

See, I want another full blown Windwaker style one.

Being a zelda game, this will be fun. But it's no Ocarina of Time.

Which is most likely being remade for the 3DS.

Trying to solve the mystery of why I don't care about this game nearly as much as I thought I would. I'm more excited about the Star Fox 64 remake. I'll preorder that tomorrow if they'll let me. Also camping for five days. Just got caught up on E3... two minutes ago.

Yeah, I kinda agree with Pat. I was really excited to find out about the new Zelda but after seeing what they showed at E3... just, meh. It wasn't bad by any means but I was hoping for something a little more revolutionary.

I'll wait until I know some more about the game other than it's a Zelda title.

Let's get this hype train rolling! Skyward Sword is out in about a month and early word is VERY good!

Edge is rumored to have given it a perfect score, going as far as to call it the best Zelda ever.

Trying to solve the mystery of why I don't care about this game nearly as much as I thought I would.

I think the reason for this was because I haven't followed a single bit of the hype train up to now. I still know nothing of the game and haven't even watched one of the trailers, save for the very first one. Not gonna read the review either. Just glad to hear it's good and can't wait to be surprised when I play! Just like the old days before Internet.

**EDIT**
Also, Skyward Sword review is go!

It's weird that Skyward sword is released last in Japan. (23rd Nov.)

Glad it's doing well!

Can't wait to play and judge for myself. It'll be the first Zelda game since OoT that I'm going in with no prior knowledge.

Pairing itself with Wii MotionPlus, Skyward Sword's 1:1 combat is a revelation. I never want to play a Zelda game any other way again, and playing through this makes me wonder why we didn't see motion control of this quality before. The responsiveness and intuitiveness of the entire arrangement is superb. The applications of Motion Plus never step into gimmicky territory. Guiding your mechanical flying Beetle, rolling bombs, swimming in water and soaring through the sky by pivoting and flicking the remote not only feels natural, it makes you wonder how you ever played an action game that wasn't on Wii. Zelda: Skyward Sword is the purest, most perfect realization of Nintendo's ambitious goals for motion-controlled gaming. It somehow took five years, but the definitive proof plays out before you on the screen.

Sigh. That sounds so awesome.
No, no, he did. In the everything else section, at least. Officially, this makes him king.

And now that I'm in the first temple the controls have completely failed me. I'm definitely missing something. :\

Anyone have a few tips?

Okay. Here's the rule of thumb with Skyward Sword.

This is a new sort of control scheme. As gamers, we don't have to deal with this very often. So remember to be patient and take the time to learn how it works. In particular, move slowly and be measured in how you react. The AI is smart and will not hesitate to parry or block in real time so you need to be alert and composed. Once everything clicks, it's great! But it could take a bit to learn.
