Test of Character
« on: June 07, 2010, 04:02:50 pm »
Space sat peacefully. Beneath the endless black, a small planetoid sat. Barren, it floated alone in the nothingness.

Alone until now, that is. Suddenly, space seemed to ripple, then tear, and then the tear opened to become a giant glowing white crack, stretching miles, tens of miles, hundreds of miles wide, and out of this massive whirlpool of energy came... five ships. All of them large, angular red constructs, the lead being almost twice the size of the rest. Then, almost abruptly as the portal appeared, it vanished, leaving only the comparatively minuscule craft hovering silently in high orbit above the planetoid.

"Status." What seemed to be the captain of the lead ship said authoritatively. Another spoke up, he sitting in a pit at the front of the large, open space of the bridge. "No reaction yet, captain, we emerged right where we predicted, and we will likely have ample time to prepare."

"Good. Raise cloak." The Captain said. Immediately, the five ships all seemed to disappear from view, cloaked by incredible meta-material to deflect all light hitting it.

"Now, we wait."

((Now what do we have here. . . ?))
In space, no one can hear you scream unless your transmitting it on the right radio frequency.

((It was a sort of bait. The gist is that the massive energy signature from the hyperspace portal would attract attention. Someone should respond. That it all I am at liberty to say.))

((Hmm... Maybe both our race's ships respond to the energy signature?))
